Just joined the forum and looking forward to some interesting discussions.

I am a pastor of a Baptist Church in Scotland and I also am keenly interested in Baptist History. I have even set up my own site about baptist history.

Welcome to the Baptist Board, Pastor. I was born again May 18, 1963 and have been a Baptist ever since. That is because it was a Baptist who cared enough about my soul to ask "Are you saved?" I had no idea what that meant and laughed, but eventually after hearing the gospel and getting into God's word, I realized that I was lost and doomed for hell.

Amen to that, I was saved through a baptist missionary who came over to Scotland and told me the gospel. At first I laughed but then the Holy Spirit showed me my true condition before God and my need of Christ. :godisgood:

My mother's ancestors were from Scotland, more specifically Ayrshire. They came over in the late 1600s.

My golfing buddies and I spend a week in your country in 2003, playing the Old Course, Royal Troon, Carnoustie, King's Barns, Prestwick, among others. It was a glorious time, walking the ground where my family had lived.

At St. Andrews, one morning I woke up to sunny skies and white, puffy clouds, the first time I'd seen the sun in five days. The lady in the golf shop said, "It's about the first time this year."

Temperatures ran 65-70 daytime in late July. The lady in the golf shop related that in 2,000, when Tiger Woods won the Open, they had a heat wave. "It was awful," she said. "We sweated and sweltered, and were just plain miserable. It got up to 80 degrees every day."

I laughed, thinking about the 90s daily in Western Kentucky in July.

It was a wonderful week in Scotland for me and I'll never forget it.

Hallo and welcome from KY! I hope you enjoy it here.

My surname is derived from three Scottish brothers who immigrated into Eastern KY through the Cumberland Gap in 1803.

My mother's ancesters were Irish, I hope you don't hold that against me. :)
