By decoding the inscription on a 3,000-year-old piece of pottery, an Israeli professor has concluded that parts of the bible were written hundreds of years earlier than suspected.

The pottery shard was discovered at excavations at Khirbet Qeiyafa near the Elah valley in Israel -- about 18 miles west of Jerusalem. Carbon-dating places it in the 10th century BC, making the shard about 1,000 years older than the Dead Sea scrolls.

I'm curious if being insulting and condescending is something you work at, or if it comes naturally.

BTW, you're aware that the pottery shard in question doesn't appear to be a passage from scripture? And you're further aware that the pottery shard does not date back to the time of Moses? You just made yourself look like a fool.

This is a great discovery! It shows that earlier dates for parts of the OT proposed by some scholars have merit, contrary to the liberal scholars who like to give later dates.

    Yes!
It doesn't have to be Scripture to prove that writing was already well developed as a means of recording and communicating. So if this example was 3000 yrs old..... that means writing was already existant and developed before this.:godisgood:

This isn't that much of an issue. It's generally agreed that Classical Hebrew (the written Hebrew of the OT) was in use from about 1100 BCE to about 600 BCE or so. The OP simply confirms some of that.

The story doesn't claim the text has any connection to OT text. That today's paper uses the same sort of letters that Ben Franklin's printing used doesn't "prove" that the Everett Herald was written 300 years ago.

Yes, I think I've read that the book of Job is believed to have preceded the 5 books attributed to Moses, by some scholars... but you probably have more sure studies than I. I do know people who have questioned how Moses could record the story of creation and the fall of man without having been there: Course I accept that God can reveal the past, present, and the future to whomever he chooses while to the unbeliever, these questions can open up the Word.... or open them to other mystical inquiries which we're told in the Bible to not entertain.

    And you are right.
When the Bible was written may not be much of an issue to us who accept it as being God inspired and God preserved.... but to scholars and any who minister to those with secular debates or issues of faith... these proofs coupled with others may swing the balance from a firm skeptic to becoming a searcher interested in learning and reading more of the Bible.... to a step of faith.
