I'm sorry, but this made me laugh.

    http://www.denverpost.com/ci_14176531

Friday's DPS lunch menu, headlined "In Honor Of M.L. King," offered students "Southern Style" chicken and collard greens.

    Of course, activists went nuts.

Like I said...sometimes, you just have to laugh.

I LOVE southern style chicken and collard greens. What's the problem? If anyone should be concerned about MLK Day, it should be us consumers. I mean, why is MLK Day the same weekend that all the department stores start their white sales?

So "Southern Style Chicken and collard greens are a problem...

    But "Negro dialect" is not?

Being a northerner, I have no idea what "collard greens" are. My vegetables don't wear collars. However, I love southern style chicken. Southerners know how to cook.

Collard greens are what the Rebels eat when they run out of black-eyed peas (wait - should we call them that?) and did they leave out corn-bread on purpose?

ps I perfer Churches Fried Chicken, but the closest one is 210 miles away. (maybe Debbie in Phille will send me some)

If we hear about any schools serving corned beef & cabbage on St. Patrick's Day, let's let them have it!

Some people would be offended if you hung them with a new rope.

I feel sorry for the kid of this lady. She's a loud mouthed lesbian with a chip on her shoulder. The kid is clearly going to grow up dysfunctional.

We grow watermelons (among other things). I was once told that I was a racist because I gave a black co-worker a watermelon (although, oddly enough, they didn't seem to have a problem with me giving watermelons to my white co-workers.)

It had nothing to do with race. It's just a practice I picked up from my dad and anybody who knows me knows that I love to share things from the garden, whether it's tomatoes or peppers or beans or watermelons.

The ironic thing is that my black co-worker was offended by being told that he should be offended by receiving a water melon.

Proper response to the complaint: "(optional: Sorry you are offended, but get over it.) I'm offended by you, but I'm not calling for your parents to make an apology!"

I can understand that thing about chicken and collards, but what's watermelon got to do about race or racism ?

That's really funny, but a good example of hypersensitivity. I was once told that I was racist because I imitated Eddie Murphy's laugh. But when I imitated Ricky Ricardo, I wasn't racist. Go figure.

BTW, do you know what I like most about the MLK Weekend? All the stores start their white sales
