ACKSONVILLE (FBC)- Prayers are being urged for the 18 Florida Baptist Convention employees in Haiti who have not been heard from after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the impoverished nation Jan. 12. Three of the 21 Haitians employed by the state convention have been found uninjured.

“They are like our family,” said Craig Culbreth, director of Florida’s Partnership Mission Department, who has traveled to Haiti for the past 11 years. Florida Baptists have a 15-year partnership with Baptist in Haiti and have helped plant 890 churches during that time.

A friend of mine (April) does at least 1 missions trip a year over there with her father (Sam Moore) and for the last two years has made friendship with a Haitian man that accpeted Christ and has a daughter. Since the quake one of his friends (oops. also a christain) contacted April by e-mail stating the man, his daughter, and 2 of his christian neices have been kidnapped and have not heard anything regarding them.

Whether or not this could be true regarding this I don't know but it appears to something that is happening alot right now.
