God help you, because you are putting yourself in the place of God to judge this young woman's salvation.

What a witness for Christ this young woman was - taking a year out of her life to help the poorest of the poor and weakest of the weak in an orphanage in Haiti.

That is called love -the kind of self sacrificing love that Christ showed on the cross.

Matthew 5: 22"Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"

I didn't think Aaron judged her salvation. Only God knows, but from the church or doctrine one adheres to, we can get a pretty good idea who makes it to heaven and who doesn't. Furthermore, doing good deeds has no part in getting you to heaven.

If she had put her faith in Jesus Christ and Hid life, death, and resurrection alone and not in priests and the Church, she was saved. if not, then she was not.

The ways and requirement of salvation is no different for Catholics than any others... belief in Christ, and in Chist alone, is the only means of salvation.

Actaully, I'm not questioning whether 'she' was or was not saved, especially since I don't know her.

However, let it be known that just because a person does nice things for people in need, in no way establishes they are christians. Many non-believers do many good and nice things for the unfortunate. However no matter what they do if they are not saved they will stand before CHrist, and the 'religious' people will declare all their great deed that were done on behalf of Christ. They tell Him all they did for Him, but scripture states that He will tell them - depart from me, you who work iniquity. I never, no not ever, knew you.

Did you catch that? All that they did for Him or in His name, and He states - you who works iniquity. Thus my point - doing good deeds does not equate to being saved.

apparently your saying her good works bought her salvation, is it your opinion everyone who does good works is a christian? Becasue they aren't. Many people do good works, and are never christians. God calls them filthy rags. just doing good works does not make anyone a chirstian. Any catholic following what the rcc teaches about salvation will not be going to heaven, as they've followed, even faithfully, the teachings of men and ignored what scripture says about salvation. It's God's way or there no salvation. Was this woman saved, I don't know, but good works didn't save her nor prove her salvation.
Did you personally know this woman, hear her testimony of her salvation?

Peggy, I agree with you. This woman was a witness for Christ. For those that disagree, what are we to do with Matthew 25:31-46?

"Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you...for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me...Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me"

If works are the fruit of our faith, then this woman had saving faith.

If you do not do good works can you call yourself a christian?

    .
An atheist does good works for himself. A Christian does good works for the glory of God
    .
Don't good works follow faith? Where does God call them filthy rags? God tells apostate Jerusalem that their works are filthy rags because of their sin (Isaiah 64:6) but in the precedeing verse God says "Thou meetest him that joyfully works righteousness, those that remember thee in they ways"
I have a copy of the Catholic Catechism. They do not teach a works based salvation.
Who said good works saved her? Her faith saved her and her works are a witness to Christ.
A woman from a Baptist Church in Dallas Tx. was also killed in the earthquake. She was also there doing "good works". She too was a witness for Christ and following the words of Christ in Matthew 25:31-46

History is full of many wonderful people who were kind, giving, compassionate, and did many wonderful things, none of who were saved.

OK. Yes I have a Catholic Catechism, I also have material from the Jehovah's Witness, the Mormons and books on Judaism. Ignorance of other faiths is not what scripture teaches. Didn't Paul become as a pagan to win the pagans, a Jew to win the Jews?

And reading the early Church Fathers is forbidden?

Saved by Grace - I'm kind of wondering the same as B4L although I tend to not jump in on these sorts of things. A telling post was your first one. In your very first sentence you say:

"According to St. Paul 1 Cor 2:9"

Baptist do not call anyone "Saint _______" since we ALL are saints.

If you are Baptist, why did you use that name?

Yes, there are very telling things in the way he/she posts things. Catholics use a slightly different way of talking than we do. I've spent 28 years with catholic family and I recognize the "catholic" in her/him.

No they do not. Ignorance of what other religions teach is...well ignorant.

From the Catholic Catechism # 161 "Believing in Jesus Christ and in the One who sent him for salvation is necessary for obtaining that salvation...therefore without faith no one has ever attained justification, nor will anyone obtain eternal life..."

They also believe that it is necessary to keep the commandments. So do I. Don't you?
    If they belie
ved in a works based salvation they wouldn't baptize babies who they believe are saved by the grace of God alone.

You believe that you can be saved without keeping the commandments? If you do then you have a "dead" faith. Don't tell me that you believe that you are predestined to heaven?
