That is the whole idea of Socialized Medicine! Social Security and Medicare are bankrupting the country so reduce the number of recipients!

Right! That's why I love health care reform. I can't wait until my relatives have to appear before a death panel.

Even a fool is thought to be wise until he opens his mouth to speak.

My dad, now 87, recently visited his orhopedic doctor who successfully replaced his knee joint about 3 years ago. Looks like the other one might need replacing as its beginning to become unbearable.

The doctor told him that he's been fortunate... with good insurance coverage. But under Obama's new plan, it is likely that people in his age group will be eliminated from such repairs because of longevity factors. Mind you, my dad was up on his tractor just last month to pull tough roots out of the ground after digging and chopping down some brush.

Elderly people who suffer a hip fracture often require pins or hip replacement and their longevity, quality of life, and mental abilities afterward, provided surgery was successful, is definately related to their maintaining whole function including ambulation.

But, if such procedures are denied them because they are no longer productive to the work force, nor producing taxable income, and it is considered to be more cost effective to allow them to vegetate into an earlier death... it may be a 'cost effective' decision made by these government screening panels. In such cases.... calling them a 'death panel' describes their purpose correctly.

Our current insurance programs requires methods of arbitration and dispute when the medical recommendations are turned down by insurance coverage on a technicality. But the government plan has no such provision.

You don't get it do you?

They won't be appearing before anyone.

Their requests for health care will simply be denied because they will be judged not of value to society - according to Obama's cadre.

Do a little research on the topic before being dismissive about it.

The people that Obama has advising him on health care have written published papers advocating a system of judging a person's worth to society and then allocating healthcare resources accordingly.

The elderly, handicapped, infirmed, mentally ill, etc will all be denied the higher level of care that the young, beautiful, gifted and talented will be granted.
