The reason is simple: The Agenda of Barak Obama stifles growth.

lol...well at least you have identified who you think is the problem?

wow, next thing we can skip a couple of steps and just start comparing him to Hitler...

If only the President could go out and get all those billion dollar profit turning companies to start hiring people. Or maybe he could just use his inifinte powers to help fast food chains start new programs to load Americans with fat, grease, and salt. You'd think he could just snap his legislative fingers and millions of jobs would be created...oh wait then you'd object to the nationalization of the work force. Such a tough thing...

It is clear you are as economically illiterate as Obama is. Consumed by your envy and hatred of corporate America, it's impossible for you to understand who creates the majority of the jobs in America.

    Same problem Obama has.

Bad timing. I've been really craving a Carl's Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburger all day. Thanks.

Seriously, though, isn't there a drop in employment this time of year anyway? One would think that a January drop in jobs would have been expected. I'm at a loss as to why this would be seen as "unexpected" by the press or by the White House.

Their figures lie and underrepresent true unemployment, which, btw, doesn't include those already retired and on SS......

.......But that's a no never matter

...to those who believe government can stimulate employment by politically charged stimulus dollars and public sector jobs, and rumour of increased taxes and penalties to private enterprises who were succeeding and begining to recover.

Typical. The first sentence in your rebuttal doesn't make any points, but is just another carpro ad hominem.

Do you have anything pertaining to the subject to contribute or did you just take a little time out from your pro choice agenda for a personal attack?

I do think Obama's approach and statements on economic issues make business people nervous.

I think as well, the favored treatment received by unions make US business leaders skittish as well...an overdemanding union, coddled by the folks in power, can pretty much wipe a business out.

Now, having said that...the recession goes back further than Obama. Bush wasn't exactly blame-free in this mess (He gave us morons like Bernanke and Paulson). And jobs are the last thing to come back.

I don't think this is really a "rebound" from December...December didn't post job gains either, if I remember correctly.

So in summary...I don't think Obama's helping the situation at all...but others must share in the blame.

I have an idea: Maybe Obama's cabinet and gaggle of czars can take the money they're not paying in taxes, and hire some folks; that would probably provide thousands of well-paying jobs. :D

This is a quote from E.J. Dionne...not my favorite pundit, but this was a pretty good quote as to Obama's handling of this situation versus a well-known predecessor:

Too bad. I would like to hear him rebut what was said instead of these constant one-liners. If it is the initiatives instituted by Obama that is the problem, state why.

Just exactly how can the president be held responsible for corporate hiring with out nationalizing the job industry.

The problem I see with Obama in this area is, like Revmitchell pointed out, he said he could fix it. This is just one more area where Obama has lied.

Are you not embarrassed by your display of ignorance with statements such as this? If not, you should be.

    >I am a machinist who works in a valve shop here in Houston, Texas. Our valves are used mostly in offshore applications. We have found that our customers are now reluctant to purchase the products that they used to purchase because of the instability caused by not knowing where this current administration in the White House is going.

They are probably buying from China. The world consumption of oil will not drop.
