    Ellen the false prophet wrote:

"But if there was one sin above another which called for the destruction of the race by the flood, it was the base crime of amalgamation of man and beast which defaced the image of God, and caused confusion everywhere. God purposed to destroy by a flood that powerful, long-lived race that had corrupted their ways before him."
    Spiritual Gifts, vol. 3, p. 64.

"Every species of animal which God had created were preserved in the ark. The confused species which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the Flood. Since the Flood there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties of species of animals, and in certain races of men."
    Spiritual Gifts, vol. 3, p. 75.

So what race of men is the result of the amalgamation of man and beast?

However Ellen White never said "this race of men is mixed with that kind of animal".

She did mention that animals were mixed with each other - resulting in violent mixed and confused species of animals.

And the Bible speaks to the mixing of mankind in Gen 6 that brings about the end of the world. The mix of the people of Seth - the children of God - mixing with the wicked world.

    in Christ,

    Bob

What? Did he misquote what she wrote?

So what exactly is the "amalgamation of man and beast"?

And please try to stay within the context of what she actually wrote - no dithering about typos.

All I know about the SDA is what my Grandmother taught me. As a teenager (though I was Catholic at the time) she tried to aquaint me with a book I think was called something or other destiny. She was always kind and a great cook for not eating meat. In fact, I would have to say that she was the best christian example I ever saw even though I know many missionaries. She took me to her Church on Saturday a small one in Los Gatos, CA. Apart from that I really know nothing about the denomination save that Collegdale TN near Cleveland Tn is practically only SDA and their major business affiliation is with Little Debbie through McKee Foods.

This is an accurate quote - but "the confused species that God did not create" section applies to animals as we see above.

Every species of animal that God did create went into the ark.

Might have been "Ellen White Prophet of Destiny" written by Rene Noorbergen.

Well since this is an open "SDA" thread with no subject selected other than that -- I think you get to ask whatever you wish.

    Happy to respond.

    in Christ,

She never went into any detail on that subject except to point out the mixing of animals with each other resulted in confused species God did not create.

But I personnally think it is interesting that we now have animal-human chimeras due to the actions of man.

    Bob

So how did you test this against Scripture?

In the context of what she wrote - the logical meaning of her words are that man and beast intermingled creating a change that is evident in "certain races".

    That obviously did not happen.

what is a animal-human chimeras? Aren't those mythical?
    Also why the legalism?
Also in what important ways are SDA opposed to Messianic Jews.
Also what do SDA's think about one law?
Also How do SDA reconcile Ellen White's false prophesies?
And how do you get your people to behave so well?

Anyone can ask anything that they want on any thead - but the topic of this thread is clearly stated in the opening post.

As the originator of this thread I would prefer to keep the discussion to "amalgamation of man and beast".

Click this link to see a small example of the animal-human chimera work that has been going on in recent time
    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/01/0125_050125_chimeras.html

    1. No legalism

    2. SDAs do not celebrate the Lev 23 annual feasts.

    3. "One Bible". God's Word "is Law".

    4. No false prophecies. BTW Targus has another thread related to that point -- see the post that is given there at this link -

Then "what a pleasant surprise" that you did not state that in the title.

The title is not what sets the subject of the thread. It is only the first post.

the only exposure i have of the sda's is my wife's aunt and uncle...they were both raised Methodist and later left and bounced around and took up with a sda congregation.

one evening i was with my wife and her aunt and uncle...i was baptist at the time and her uncle went into a rant about the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope...as a IFB, i was right there with him

...BUT then he started on Ellen White and how she had interpreted Holy Scripture from a vision of God...i was like hold on a minute...you just blasted the RCC and the Pope in regard to interpreting Scripture within the Church and you turn around and do the same thing with Ellen White and its OK?!

yeah, but Ellen had a 'vision' from God he said...i was seriously thinking what kool-aid was he drinking...my wife and i dropped it...my wife was really concerned and they were really pushing her grandparents into the SDA and how my wife's uncle had already been 'baptized' "for them" in their place...not sure what that was all about...

then my wife's grandmother passed away and about a month after, we were visiting her grandfather and her aunt and uncle were there...her aunt had just gotten back from planting a rose bush on her grave and told her grandfather that he needed to go a couple of times a week and sit at her grave to keep her company...i was thinking..."what tha heck?!"...she told my wife's grandfather that his wife was 'asleep' in the grave and needed his company...they left soon after and her grandfather, out of the blue said...'what have they been drinking?'...we all cracked up...

that's about all my exposure to the sda...other than a co-worker sda, that was afraid to eat a hamburger...

I hit enter too soon - so the title truncated.

I don't know why you would be surprised. The topic is clearly worded in the opening post.

And now that you have had my clarification, please try to stick to that topic.

Of course I could simply start a new thread on this topic with a title that is satisfactory to you if that is what it will take to get you to explain the meaning of "amalgamation of man and beast".

I don't know why you claim to have no knowlege of the meaning of the words.

Leaders in your church understood what she was talking about - including her husband.

" Ellen White's statement provoked instant controversy and stinging criticism of her in the 1860s forced church leaders to attempt to defend their prophet. In 1868, four years after the amalgamation statements first appeared in print, Adventist leader Uriah Smith5 published his defense of Ellen White. In that book he conjectured that the union of man with beast had created "such cases as the wild Bushmen of Africa, some tribes of the Hottentots, and perhaps the Digger Indians of our own country".6

James White "carefully" reviewed Smith's book prior to its publication, and then recommended it in glowing terms to the readers of the church's official magazine, the Review and Herald..."

    Sorry to hear that Targus.

But you know what they say "God is sovereign" in the outcome regardless of the intent of the heart.

All sounds pretty funny to me.

    1. you should ask your co-worker if he/she ever heard of such a wild idea as "go sit by the grave because the dead need company"!! ;)

    2. "Afraid" of hamburger? "Mad Cow disease" maybe?? High Cholesterol? What?

It is far more likely that the average SDA will agree to what you find in this link -- than what is stated above -

    Bobryan,
I only got this when I accessed your link
A hybred human animal so far are mythical. However, with the advances in medical technology I can forsee something like this. we are already incorporating Human DNA in lab animals. With the stem cell research now going on I think splicing DNA into a new variant of animal/human combination will be worked on and we will get closer as we perfect cloning process. I think a human clone will happen with in the next 10 years.
