Interesting reading. I have read this before, but it seems appropriate to post this now as we are being buried in snow AGAIN.

Bed wetting liberals just can't let the global warming thing go. They will continue to cram it down our throats until they totally destroy our lives and economy. The Audi commercial during the Super Bowl speaks volumes as to their demented mindset. Goodness I need to hide my plastic Coke bottle sitting on my desk. The global warming police might be watching.
    Sad!!!

I like snow, but what is going on in the Mid-Atlantic states is crazy wild man! I'm sure many have changed the old Wendy's commercial from "where's the beef?" to "where's the global warming?" Right now global warming would be nice.

I've seen more damage to the cedar trees in our neighborhood from these two storms than from any storms since I moved here 42 years ago.

By the way, warmer air will hold more moisture, so when it does come down there will be more of it. So bigger snowstorms and greater rainfall fit global warming ... simple climatology.

...so if it's cold and stormy...it's global warming...and if it's hot and dry, or any combination of these...it's global warming. That's a wonderful built in win win formula!

I don't know about where anyone else comes from, but around here warm means no snow, our snow melts, and when it is warm we don't get any snow at all. It never ever means we get lots of snow when the temperatures rise. you don't have to be a crooked scientists with phoney hoax evidences to figure that one out.

As I have mentioned several times, it doesn't have to be very cold to make snow. 32 degrees is not very cold. All it takes is warm, humid air being hit by a cold front. A warmer ocean puts more water into the air.

Water holds lots of heat. Dirt has a much lower specific heat. Sand even less which is why deserts get cold at night.

When the Jet Stream comes south it drags cold, arctic air with it. The snow in DC is basically produced in the same way as lake effect snow.

32F is cold around here (the South). We have yet to make it to 32F today. No snow here, but that's because of the Cumberland Plateua and the Tennessee Valley. It snowed above and below us.

Besides, the earth warms and cools in cycles. I'm syre we have sped that cycle up, but it is just a part of how the earth operates. Al Gore needs to get his drawers out of a wad... along with everyone else.

Our resident climatologists in action! Maybe you guys should invite Al Gore over and we would have the Three Stooges?

Considering the nights for the next week (at least) will be near freezing here in mid Florida, I'm just glad I'm not up north any longer. :godisgood:

    I miss snow...but I don't miss it that much.

The whole global warming catastrophe will make for a fun conversation with my grandkids 30 years from now. While I have always suggested that mankind has a hand in climate change I have never been an ardent global warming apocalypse supporter.

More proof about weather has a cyclical nature.

One funny thing I did read (this is not Drudge's obligatory "Global Warming Meeting Canceled Because of Snow" headline) was that the City of Washington DC spent a couple million on a snow melting device that could help deal with the mountains and mountains of snow plow piles. It broken down within an hour and they can't replacement parts...irony at its best. :)

I'm all for conservation, preservation, etc. Why deliberately pollute the climate? Why be so wasteful? But, to roll it all up in a lie, called global warming, does nothing for the cause. How long will it be before the green police show up at your door? If Cap and Trade passes in it current form that's exactly what will happen. If you sell your home you will have to pass inspection to ensure that you, at your own expense, have brought your home up to proper green standards which could run into the thousands making your home unsaleable. Plus, you will be the one footing the bill for the government inspector (You will have to buy the permit to sell your home.) These so called green jobs will do nothing but turn honest citizens needing a job into Big Brother's spies ensuring that you tow the green line. The sooner we get rid of Obama and this congress the better off we will be. I'll take the "W" over this bunk any day of the week.

You know, a child can look at the winter the US has had this year and come to the conclusion that global warming alarmism is false.

To prove global warming alarmism the "experts" throw out data that shows a rise in temperature (of course, this date has been called into question). Then, when we have a severe winter, the "experts" say this is all a part of global warming. You can't have it both ways. Rising temps and falling temps can't both prove global warming. It's illogical and I don't need a degree in climatology to realize that.

I love it when us poor, stupid people have to be told we're ignorant, wrong, and unaware of the basic evidence that just happens to be staring us in the face.

Trying to prove global warming is happening by using time.com....well, that's like advertising your "modest Chrsitian apparel" in Playboy: it becomes an object of humor because no one in their right mind would take it seriously.

==If I remember correctly from my undergraduate climatology class, Bill is not wrong. Technically these recent snow storms neither prove nor disprove global warming. AFter all, areas in South America are currently enduring a massive heatwave. The theory of global warming is based on long term trends not short term events. So pointing to these storms is not going to change anyone's mind.

The globe has warmed and cooled throughout history. This was happening long before human factories, SUVs, and cars. What do you think happened to Beringia? Or the large ice age animals? The climate changed and the globe warmed. And not for the first time. Most likely these things work in cycles. I don't believe in man-made global warming. We could do everything Al Gore wants and more and I honestly doubt it would have a major impact on the climate. The warming trends and cooling trends would still come and go. If the polar bear goes the way other animals have gone, so be it. For that is the way of the earth.

Thanks. Being technically right is good enough for me.

I don't know if humans can effect the world climate but we do effect local conditions. Burning coal for heat sure changed breathing conditions in the cities. When I was a kid there were coal chutes in the sidewalk. If requiring cat converters eliminated the smog attacks in Los Angeles then they are worth the price.

Smog in one city does not equal global, man-affected, dramatic temperature increases.

Of course CTB and the globalbots ignore this fact...but we've dug up early middle-ages settlements in Greenland. We know for a fact that at one point in history--long before we "began to cook the earth" :)rolleyes:), Greenland was much less iced-over than it is now.

Of course, they have no explanation...because one, that messes up their agenda; and two...their basic assertion is flawed, so how in the world could they explain any refutations of it? What a bunch of kooks.

Uh, yes it could be true! A global shift such as warming doesn't simply consist of everywhere just getting hotter all of a sudden. (The movie The Day After Tomorrow is an example of a rapid global shift. You wouldn't think a simple chunk of ice falling in the ocean could cause so much destruction. That may have been exaggerated for the dramatic effect, but it is the same basic principle).
It is a state of imbalance that may include places getting colder at times too. Ever heard of "two steps forward; one step back"? You see the backward step and think you're going backwards; yet the overall progression is still forward. Mike Regele in Death of the Church also describes this pattern, regarding the Church. Many people see all the suppsed "spread" of the Gospel, with all the numbers, the megachurches, etc. But many here (especially both fundies and Reformed alike) actually see all of that as part of a negative trend! The overall progression is going downward, but this includes spikes of apparent increase.
Another good example is in tsunamis, how the water will actuall recede, before the big wave hits. Using the logic I see here, people would see the water recede, and say "oh, those liberals who are warning us of a giant wave coming this way are only trying to scare us away so they can take all our property. the water is going the other way!"
