Gov Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota may run for president.

At a speech he said: "The first one is this: God's in charge, There are some people who say 'Oh, you know, Pawlenty, don't bring that up. you know its politically incorrect.' HOGWASH"

    Here is the full story

He attends the Woodale Baptist Church, (the pastor is also president of the NAE) which is part of the Baptist General Conference

He's right- God is in charge and He causes or allows all things to occur.

Are you saying that God is responsible for all starvations, murders, rapes, wars, greed, sloth, etc., etc.?

I think I've about had it with Republicans and their religion talk. Why? Because that is about all there is to it, talk. They talk a good talk but when they get into power all of that good talk goes out the window (until fundraiser or reelection time). I'm done with them and I refuse to be sucked in by another Republican who uses Christian language to get the votes of Christians. I'm tired of being taken advantage of. I have no clue who I will vote for in 2012, but it will not be Palin, Romney, or Pawlenty. I don't care what they say or what they claim.

==If God is not in control then nobody is in control and we are all in real trouble. The picture God paints of Himself in Scripture is that of a God in absolute control. Nothing happens outside of His plan and yes, His plan includes evil. He does not cause evil, nor does He approve of evil, but He allows evil. God never promised us a walk in the park or a bed of roses in this life. He never promised us a perfect world without evil. However He has promised salvation for all who will repent and turn to Him in faith.

    He said "causes" or "allows".

Do think that there is anything that happens that God does not "allow"?

What can anyone do that God would be unable to prevent if He so wished?

But..but...but....God doesn't allow bad things to happen to good people! God is this mystical hippie being up in the sky that just loves everyone and would never allow anything bad to happen man. If something bad happens its because God wasn't looking or that person had some bad karma, got it? God would never allow someone that lived a perfect life to be beaten, mocked, spit upon, and crucified. Oh wait...Crabby....I think we need to go back to the drawing board. This whole liberal God idea isn't working out....

No. I said He causes or allows all things. It's a logical consequence of God being all-powerful. God could stop all evil, but He doesn't, therefore, He allows it. I do not believe God is the cause or author of evil.

Now that Paul has explained his answer in a way that even Crabby can now understand, :tonofbricks: can we please get back to the OP?!

BRAVO! Let's get back to the topic of the OP!

If you want to discuss what God alows/causes, etc., start a new thread.

That said, I don't necessarily believe we as Americans should support a politician simply because he/she may state something from the Bible.

Personally, it's my opinion that too many politicians will use religion merely as a way to gain favor with certain segments of the voting populace.

While I'm not questioning Gov. Pawlenty's relationship with Christ, we do need to keep things in balance. EX: Gov. Pawlenty was opposed to Obama's stimulus program yet he accepted that stimulus money for Minnesota.

Oh yes, and when it comes to the Bible, I remember a certain president who was often pictured carrying a Bible as he exited Sunday services. I rather doubt that he had a bookmark in his Bible on the page that had Exodus 20:14 or Deuteronomy 5:18 on it.

I'm sick and tired of both the D's and the R's making empty promises. That's one reason why I voted for neither one in 2008.

Unless Tim Pawlenty changes his views to pretty well match up with those of Ron Paul I will not vote for him.

I don't think we have the candidate listed here who will be the ultimate nominee of the Republican Party.

I don't know who that is but am praying that God may raise up the right person.

    Grammar Cop here.

    Salty...

    You posted...

In all three cases the word would be...

"Make the Republicans LOSE", not "Make the Republicans LOOSE".

One time could be a typo, but repeatedly means a CITATION.

    Sorry.

    Grammar Cop out.
