Decision day at Washington - reform or gridlock?

The article forgot to mention that the Democrats control both the Congress and the Presidency.

Until very very recently the Democrats did not neede a single Republican vote to pass anything.

The Democrats are at odds with each other - as well as with the wishes of a majority of the American people.

The author also bemoans deficits but supports a trillion dollar plan that will do nothing to reduce the costs of health care.

You don't suppose that he has a bias do you?

 

That is a very interesting article. I find it helpful to read foreign newspapers.

This is a golden opportunity for Republicans to prove they have ideas and to find common ground for the good of the American people.

It is also a dangerous time for Republicans if they appear to be the party of NO with no ideas and no willingness to do something to help the American people. I listened to an interview on the radio as I drove this morning with a Republican senator who said behind closed doors the Republicans are worried they will come across as the party of NO ... publically they are saying "it is a great opportunity."

 

Republicans have been proposing reforms of their own all along.

Obama, the dems, the libs and you have continued in misrepresenting that fact.

Why do you continue to misrepresent the Republicans in this case even though it has been pointed out to you several times on this board?

 

I would like to see the GOP or the Democrats introduce the plan from the Cato Institute that I have linked to several times in this forum. I am not holding my breath that either party will present such this free market reform plan. Both major parties are beholden to the insurance industry.

 

Why hasn't Ron Paul introduced it?

this will kill the Bill again, but it the divisions among democrats that will doom it.

Republicans should keep it simple:

Tort reform
Buy insurance across state lines
no special favors for states or unions
no money at all spent on abortion
No medicare cuts
Quit lying about the cost

Keep pounding on those simple ideas. Don't argue. Don't debate. Just keep pounding.
