Amillennialists say that the NT only presents an understanding of the future which can only be understood as "this Age" ( the present church age) and "the Age to come" (the eternal state). Please see Matt. 12:32; Mk. 3:29. What do y'all premillennialists think about this approach? Thank You!

I fail to see the relevance of the scripture posted in relation to the first sentence. Amillienialism is as ridiculous as the gap theory and requires just as much theological gymnastics as the other.

Hello Dear Loving Brother in Christ,

You are aware, I trust, that the amillennialist sees only this present age, and then the eternal state?

ok again what do the passages of scripture you posted have to do with amillennialism?

And I am quite aware of what they "see" which is ridiculous.

So, Edward, I think you got your answer.

Personally, I think the idea that Christ's Kingdom is only a thousand years is ridiculous.

    Sigh.

"Calvin's reason for rejecting the premillennial view was his concept that the thousand year reign nullified the eternal reign of Christ. Did the premillennialist limit the reign of Christ to a thousand years, his contention that "their fiction is too puerile to require or deserve refutation" would be true. However such is not the case..." —J. Dwight Pentecost, Things to Come, pp. 491-492

What if I said it this way: "Personally, I think the idea that Christ's Kingdom is only a thousand years in time is ridiculous." After all, doesn't time end after the millenium?

Also, do premillenialists believe that Jesus is King now?

And now a blast from the past, especially for those who like to claim to still "hold" to what the Particular Baptists of the 1600s believed:

[Particular Baptist Pastor] Hanserd Knollys, The World That Now Is; and The World That Is to Come (1681), pp. 29,30:
I wish more Baptists were in tune with - or even aware of - their own heritage.

I take it back. I'm sorry. I denounce myself.

I don't really think the premillenial view is "ridiculous". I just don't like my own views to be characterized that way, so I retaliated in haste.

However, I DO think premil is inconsistent and self-contradictory. Even if Spurgeon, Gill, and many other great men of the Church believed in it.

Perfectly logical once one turns Israel into the Church. The Jews in the OT were only taught two ages also...before the Messiah came and after He came. I could see it myself if it wasn't for the fact that the Messiah came and was rejected. It was a "game changer". Their rejection caused a delay in Israel getting "the glories that followed", not Darby.
