I expect unemployment to stay over 8% indefinitely.

I hope you are wrong on this one. Why do you believe it will remain that high?

At least the downward spiral that Bush started may be leveling off and bottoming out!

And there it is - the obligatory Crabby Bush bash.

So tell us - what did Bush do - SPECIFICALLY - to create the downward spiral in employment?

Just giving credit where credit is due.

This whole economic mess is part of the Bush legacy. His legacy is not pretty and historians will rate him very low in the presidential pecking order.

Do you want the unemployment rate to continue upward?

As per your usual - you've got nothing.

My, my - what a surprise.

Why do you bother to ask such idiotic questions?

Other than Obama and his cadre of socialist/communist/marxist advisors and hangers-on everyone wants the unemployment rate to go down.

What would be interesting would be the unemployment rates of the several states or commonwealths.

I am sure some states or commonwealths or higher and some are lower.

    If so, then why.

Just today on the news it was reported that Birdseye in Rochester, NY is moving out of state -...

Also, just think of this year's collegiate graduating class. No jobs for them, and no way for the media to count them as "jobs lost".

    An ignorant libbie's dream.

These figures are not true representations of unemployment. Many have dropped off the screen either due to part time employment, or stopping their job search. Many have been so discouraged that they've 'retired' and are now cannibalizing whatever savings and planned retirement they had saved.

The actual figures are more likely closer to 20% than 10%.

Gotta run with my brother now and keep the Waffle House Waitresses emplyoyed.

Is that what you have heard, or is that based on actual research.

Be sure the MSM mostly reports the most optimistic of the government figures after the government had made adjustments. They just fail to tell you whether the figures quoted are total or adjusted downward and by what circumstances.

Targus has the correct figures. But MSM is serving the government by keeping us sheeple happy and sedated....... unless or until we get touched by reality.

I can tell you about unemployment as I am there. I have been unemployed for 429 days and counting as I was laid off on Jan. 1, 2009. I drew my last check this week. I don't know if they is an extension or not... there is supposed to be, but with the way things are going I'm not so sure. I have to go to the Department of Labor on Monday and file for the extension, so I guess I will find out about it then.

The numbers lie. Targus posted the true rate, and I think it is even higher around here. I have put in countless applications and have had about six interviews in the past fourteen months... but no job offer. And they say it is getting better...? Try telling that to my mortgage holder, or the utility companies, or my bank. I draw less than half of what I made and it is our only income... and we may be without it come Monday.

No one can lat the blame for this at the feet of any one person, be it Bush or Obama. Rampant greed and unchecked markets created this mess, and it has been in the making for 20 years. There's nothing any of us could have done to stop it. Until the hemorrhaging stops and companies feel that it is safe enough to hire it will only get worse.

    God help us.
