...What is going on behind the scenes during this delay? Probably a lot of number crunching. Congressional Democrats have the CBO equations used to calculate expenditures and taxes and have spent the last few days changing different numbers in the bill to jimmy the total costs below a trillion dollars. Yet, no one really believes that the CBO equations accurately measure the costs of the health care bill to the government or to anyone else. Once one knows what costs the CBO counts and which ones are ignored, gaming these numbers can allow Democrats to hide huge parts of the bill’s costs.

Take the huge $500 billion cuts in Medicare. There is a big difference between the government's costs and the costs for the system as a whole. Medicare and Medicaid already reimburse hospitals and doctors at rates that don’t cover their costs. Even lower reimbursement rates mean private insurers will have to offset those losses or hospitals and doctors will start losing money, with many going out of business. Cuts in Medicare pass the buck to private insurance companies, which pass the costs to private customers who pay higher premiums to cover the Medicare shortfall. And as costs rise, more and more of the insured will opt out of buying insurance. But the CBO estimates disregard this effect.

Can you back up your assertion?

    Please enlighten us.

    What are the "real" numbers?

I am aware that the tax increases start in the first year but the benefits are phased in over ten years.

Then the benefits are phased out over the next ten years.

So what you end up with is paying more in taxes for less than what is advertized.

I have always thought the CBO to be one of the more honest of the federal agencies.

You're right. The republican party doesn't need propaganda.. we have truth.

I am amazed at your responses... all these posts in this thread and not one finger pointed at George Bush... What, you haven't received your daily talking points from Pelosi/Reid?

Don't you know that they take turns?

However, now that one party has all the power...... It's taking more than its share and representing less than 50% of the population .......and not even that group in their own interest but in its (the Democrat power elite's) own interest.

This bill is not health care nor is it reform. It spells doom and control.
Every one who votes for it is a traitor to our country and has denied their qualifications by betrayal of their oath for office.

And queen nancy says we'll know what's in it after we pass it.
Insanity must inhabit the hearts and minds and souls of all who vote for it cause what sane person would sign a contract and cast a vote without knowing the purpose or intent or who or how the obligations are satisfied?

For someone who claims to read as much as you do you are out of touch with current events.

    The tax increases start immediately.

The "benefits" are phased in over a period of years with most not even starting for four to six years.

At year eleven many benefits start to phase out - such as the assistance to individuals too poor to buy health insurance.

Did you know that the "federal assistance to purchase health insurance" is really just a trap into a lifetime of poverty?

If someone is receiving that assistance and then manages to find a better paying job or gets a raise in pay - the assistance is reduced by by 80% of the pay increase?

Which means that after taxes the recipient is further behind than they were before getting the raise !!

I'm just looking for an on topic response to my on topic points.

Do you have a relevant response?

Are you aware of the specifics of the plan and the costs?

I know it is neither as good as the Democrats say nor as bad as the Republicans say. And Fox has no credibility as they are simply the mouth for the party of NO.

What you are saying then is that you have no understanding of the specifics of the bill.

And with no knowledge of the specifics of the bill you have no basis for judging the accuracy of what Fox News is reporting on it.

So it's just SOP of you then.

This is where you drop out of the thread... :wavey:

Your opinion which, right or wrong, you are entitled to.

What in the health care bill do you like?

    None of it.

It doesn't address the biggest problems that increase the cost of medical care.

It doesn't address tort reform or allowing the sale of policies across state lines (without the consent of individual States).

It creates additional restrictions and taxes which do nothing to reduce cost or improve medical services.

    But why do you care?

You admit that you have no idea of what the bill says or does.
