    Obama's Military Private Insurance Proposal

The following has been checked out through www.snopes.com - http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-...=-1&sp-x=any&sp-c=100&sp-m=1&sp-s=0&x=31&y=13 - and also www.ask.com - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/17/AR2009031702537.html - The story appeared in the Washington Times.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS IDEA EVER BY A PUBLIC OFFICIAL, LET ALONE BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, AND "COMMANDER IN CHIEF"

IMHO: To even toss this idea around IS A DISGRACE!!!

TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE MR. PRESIDENT??? Why would you even let this thought go further than "smack and trash talk" on the basketball court at the WH???

And, pray tell, why did this plan not go any further than pure talking points???

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.

Please pass this on to every one including every vet and their families whom you know. How in the world did a person with this mindset become our leader? I didn't vote for him!!!

Sure, it never went any further than thoughts and talk, however, it still shows us just what lays deep in the heart and mind of this POTUS.

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

The part about Obama wanting to bill private insurance for combat injuries was true, according to the article. Not exactly a comforting thought. It's sort of like, "We blow you to pieces and somebody else pays the bill". Sweet deal for the fedle gummit.

I agree...I'm not in favor of that proposal. It is still different than the OP which states, "require veterans carry private health insurance". The proposal was not going to require them to carry private insurance, but just bill the private insurance of those that already have it.

Again, I'm against the proposal, but let's use facts instead of made up arguments.

Thanks Matt, I Made the Corrections...

Thanks Matt! I took a look at the Snopes report, and I made the corrections. The article now shows only that Obama was presented with this idea, and that he did discuss this with several veteran groups. After being heavily criticized, he did drop it, and I hope the rewrite of this post meets your idea of reporting the truth.

I should have read the report better... HOWEVER, I didn't make up the information in this article, I simply copied it to our forum from am e-mail I receieved from a friend. I have since notified her and told her that the info was mostly bogus, and that she too, needed to check her info before sending it on. I also told her to read the Snope's reports better...

However... I need to point out to you that the ACTUAL idea and proposal did take place, and had you read the entire Snopes article, you would have read the following: "To Obama's credit, he APPEARS to have backed away from this proposal! But, veterans can't figure out how he [Obama] let someone in his administration persuade him to try it. Frankly, neither can we." From Newsday, March 27, 2009.

    Good Day,:wavey:

I Made the Corrections, Sorry for Misleading You

I should have read the Snope's report better. I made the changes.

The fact that Obama was even toying with this change, and that he proposed it to several veteran groups, is truly a sad day in the history of this nation.:tear:

Correction in Web Site Addresses, SORRY!!!

I'm sorry that the web sites didn't respond. I re-checked them and made the corrections. Please NOTE that while the Snope's Report says that the information is "Mostly False", I wrote this post/article from what was true, and that should be considered when you are checking out Snope's.

The truth is, Obama was presented with this IDEA; he proposed it to several veteran groups; and pulled it off the table after heavy criticism.

If the info i used to support this post does not satisfy any one on the Board, I'd like to suggest you do a little more research on the topic yourself, and you will see that Obama did in fact "toy" with this idea! All you have to do is copy and paste the title of this article to your browser, and you'll have a page of reports on this very topic.

There's nothing false about what he thought about doing...

I'm not blaming you for trying to post false information Paul. I know this is an email that was going around and not of your construction. My wife received the email last week and asked me about it and I promptly sent her to snopes.com.

Yes, I know he floated the idea of having the private insurance companies (from veterans that have it) pick up cost of medical. I'm against the proposal and glad to see it appears to have been dropped.

I'm Glad Your Wife Got the Same E-mail...

... it makes it easier on my credibilty... however, rather than delete the post, I re-wrote it to show that he entertained the idea. An idea that he should be ashamed for even presenting to those veteran groups.:tonofbricks:

What amazes me is that he didn't get tarred and feathered by the vets at that meeting:laugh:
