Jesus marries the Church - Wallah!
If you are part of the church, you will participate in interracial marriage - Jew with Gentile...

    Besides,
    Joseph did it.
    Moses did it.
    Boaz did it.
Solomon did it (and wrote a book of the Bible about it).
    Jesus will do it.

None of them were condemned or spoken negatively for it - all of them are a picture of God's goodness!

    Sorry.

Glad to see no one here is against interracial marriage.

Or that they have nothing to say to defend themselves for the ridiculous notion.

A comment was made about the wedding I performed (my first). The couple is interracial, black and white. It was said, "Man, I'd hate to think that my first wedding, (or any of them for that matter,) was an interracial one." Several saw it and added their comments. The thread was closed and has since been removed but the topic is still very much alive.

The comment showed that racism is still very much alive within Christianity. I do believe it was MLK who said that 11 o'clock Sunday morning is the most segregated hour in America. He was right then and is still right today.

Yea, and he's also the bread of life we partake of, therefore all Christians eat physical bread! :D Equating our participation with this life's stuff with the next life's stuff doesn't compute. For instance, in this life we have to have a marriage license, participants with gender (as opposed to the unisex Church), and so on.

I think you're confusing the tangible and intangible. And while I do believe that interracial marriage is OK in both lives, I don't think you're reasoning is up to par. (No offense.)

Also, I don't see why a Christian has to believe, as in support, interracial marriage from either a spiritual or physical standpoint. It's entirely possible for someone to be saved without understanding the future consequences of joining the bride of Christ (see Old Testament believers and children pre-birds & bees). In other words, I don't have to understand everything Heaven is or everything I'll experience it as in order to accept the pardon granting me entry. I think this principle applies to those who misunderstand interracial marriage, in either sense, as well.

Think of it this way: if a person only read Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16, and the Romans Road on a tract could they be saved without also reading Paul's bride analogy? I think so.

Again, Ivon Denosovich, would like to reiterate that he has no prob with mixin' and would also like to state that he's dated outside his own skin twice.

Oh, and one other thing, this is a very interesting thread and topic. Thanks for starting it, Rubato 1.

Personally I think this site should ban anyone who agrees with, or as a result of their views openly promotes racism. There is no room for it on a Christian site, and there should be zero tolerance for it.

Racism-the idea that one's own race is superior.

It is sad that anybody that has any type of opinion on race is called a racist. I do not believe that any one race is superior to the other, therefore I would appreciate not being called a racist anymore since I do not fit the definition of racist. Thank you very much.

Yes that is racism, but so is racial prejudice or discrimination, so is intolerance of another race or other races.

    I AM AGAINST INTER-RACIAL MARRIAGE

If a member of the human race wants to marry an Alien race, this should not be permitted.

The idea of "races" is evolutionary and humanistic, meant to DIVIDE the human race. God created ONE race, the human race, and made of all mankind ONE blood.

Much better to use "ethnicity" to describe some various traits among the ONE race called humans.

I am Welsh and married a stubborn, willful German. Two different ethnicities and we've only been able to hold it together 40 years.

Incorrect - Racial prejudice or discrimination is not (necessarily) racism!

You're racist because you think them Negros aren't good enough to marry white people and you refuse to marry people without scriptural basis to satisfy your own racist desires and you play the "personal conviction" card when called on it. I have someone in my family who's like you and I can see right through your protestations of not being racist.

I don't have a problem with a pastor stating his convictions that he will not participate in the marriage of an interracial couple.... if his convictions are based on the difficulties he believes will be encountered afterward between them and their family groups and prejudices of their community.... particularly if he feels inadequate to counsel them or others in this area.

And, if I were considering marriage to someone in another 'ethnic group' (I do prefer that term as we are all human.... or I would hope so), I would prefer that a pastor not participate in the ministry of witnessing our vows if he, himself, did not have confidence in us or in God that our union could hold and be blessed by God.

I don't think it is right to say that interracial marriages is wrong (and I think the Bible does not support consideration of race as an exclusion to marry) and I would hope that 'race' is not the primary reason for a person's objection.

I will not pretend to speak for Cutter, but in what post # did he say that Negros aren't good enough to marry white people.
As far as personal convictions there are many other "unmatchable" ie extreme rich/poor -; Gung ho GI / anti-war activists; dog lover-cat hater / dog hater-cat lover; college grad/ grammar school drop-out; IFB / Pentecostal; ect - to the 100th power
Show me in the Bible where any of those ...isms are scripturally prohibited. Yet a man of God would be doing a disservice but not addressing potential problems and even possibly refusing to preform a wedding.
Remember - Marriage is hard enough as it is - and extreme differences need to be kept to a minimum

    Hats off to Salty.
He seems to have made my point perfectly to Paul3144 and Steven2006

Thanks for the effort Salty, but it is so easy for them to stoop to personal attacks and judgmental behavior instead of treating someone that has a different view than their own with respect and deference.
I've often wondered how someone that is black, asian, indian, or whatever, would be treated by the members of the BB if they came on here and said the same thing I have.

or it could also be political correctness gone to the extreme.

Hmm, I bet you, Paul or Steve would not marry a homsexu@l couple. Would they be considered a bigot for that refuasal?

Baloney...a man of God should make sure that the couple are both committed to serve the Lord. Something like one being rich and the other being poor is not a reason for a pastor to refuse to marry a couple. You other examples are even more ridiculous. Dog lover and dog hater a reason for a pastor to deny marriage? Please, this is just stupid.

    Once again...bad comparisons.

A pastor that refuses to marry homosexu@l people is following God's instructions, not his own opinions and prejudices.
