It will be interesting to see how this story has developed by the time those in the States are waking up.

    http://bit.ly/cEMGRy

An incident took place on a Turkish vessel which is part of an international 'relief effort' to Gaza.

What is not in doubt is that Israeli troops landed on the vessel. What happened next is still not clear, but close to twenty people have been killed and many injured. All I am hearing so far is Irish news which is always anti-Israel. I read a Fox report here that differs greatly from what I am hearing on the radio.

Holding off to see how this plays out.

I heard earlier today that they were sending in the supplies and knew something was going to happen. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out.

It's going to be tough to get real news about this.

The UN is taking it's typical position, which is virulently anti-Israel. If they were telling the truth, you wouldn't have any way of knowing it.

This could get ugly. And I'm really interested to see what our response will be.

Somebody go buy Barack a pair of flip-flops and a thesaurus. I forecast a great deal of position-switching, and numerous finely parsed words that sound good but say nothing.

The Obama position will contain these words:

A 5-point bonus if he'll mention the phrase, "The peace-loving religion of Islam."

Those poor innocent people on that boat killed by radical Israelis. Give me a break!! This was a set up and I applaud the Israelis for standing up to this charade.

==I find it interesting that the U.N. is always very quick to condemn Israel. However when a Palestinian bomber kills innocent Israeli children at a but stop or Israeli grandmothers in the market place, the U.N. is silent or very limited in its condemnation. Not just the U.N. either. We see this in the approach of many world leaders. Israel is suppose to sit back and let their people be killed and let these radical nuts run free. Yet no other nation on the face of the earth would put up with what Israel is forced to put up with. Israel has been too patient, if you ask me.

This is intriguing. It takes up about 60% of every newscast here. Even more interesting is the fact that an Irish vessel is on the way now. Ireland, of course, are part of the international attack on Israel.

The bothersome thing is that Hamas have succeeded. This could very well be Israel's Kent State regardless of what really happened. The facts will not matter, I fear.

I am not a 'support Israel right or wrong' kind of guy. In this case though it looks like Israel are not the primarily guilty party. I am sure it could have been handled better, but Israel has every right to protect her borders.

    Let's see,

On the one hand, you have a boatload of activists from a radical anti-Israel and anti-Western terrorist supporting organization that ran a blockade in order to attempt to give aid and comfort (and possibly weapons) to Muslims who have vowed to destroy Israel, and then attacked Israeli soldiers who boarded the boat.

On the other, you have a nation that has historically been the only source of stability in that region of the world and that has traditionally been extremely judicious when it comes to dealing with those who wish to destroy them, in spite of the fact that they are a tiny country, hopelessly outnumbered by nations fully of Muslim extremists who have vowed to drive them into the sea, and face repeated bombings and mass murders of innocent women and children.

    Hmmm....

Sorry, not a lot of sympathy here.

I am wondering if O will actually stand with our allies, or bow to the "global community" of the UN.

If he does turn his back on Israel, I wonder if it will be the straw that breaks the camel's back for we the people. Maybe that would really wake people up about him.

Israel has had a thousand potential "Kent States". They will do what they always do, provide for their national security regardless of the fallout.

If they don't , they will cease to exist.

These words are so true. We can already see a rush to judgment with a complete disregard for the facts. I love that when CNN posted the videos offered by the blockade breakers, it was "actual footage". Contrast this with today: the IDF offers their videos, but they only "purportedly show the raid."

Only reluctantly offered up on a few newscasts is the fact that the primary weapon of the SEALS was a paintball gun; their sidearm being their only live weapon. Clearly, from all videos (including those of the protesters), they were attacking the SEALS before they even landed on the boat. The argument that the SEALS were firing before landing is also proven false by the videos. At more than one point on the videos, you can see SEALS downed by a large number of hostiles who are armed with deadly weapons (lead pipes are a very lethal weapon). The SEALS have claimed that while they were down, the protesters tried to take their sidearms. Add to this, that one boarding SEAL was severely injured (neck injury) when he was thrown over the rail to the lower deck.

Given these circumstances, any military personnel, law or security officer would have done the same thing: drawn their weapon, given warning, and then (if the threat did not cease) used lethal force.

    Nothing wrong with repelling pirates.

How about the US Navy inspecting a shipment of non military goods and then escorting the ship?

When the UN puts nations like Libya and Uganda on the "Human rights committee," and allows Iran (!) to serve on the "the U.N. women's commission," (!!!) what does one expect?

The UN is so anti-Western, anti-Israel (and pro-Islamic...or at least far-too over-represented by Islamic regimes) as to be an absolute joke. It boggles my mind as to why we are stupid enough to belong to this farce.

Perhaps, I am confused. Are you arguing that the U.S. Navy has never done this? More to the point, are you arguing that the US Navy does not regularly do this?

Exactly. That appears to be what Israel was forced to do.

Islamic pirates boarded an Israeli chopper in flight? Good trick!

For those who need every detail of every idea spelled out, I was trying to suggest that the people in Gaza ask the US NAVY to inspect their next supply ship while at sea in international waters for contraband and if that supply ship has no contraband then the US Navy should escort the supply ship into port. This should please humanitarians on both sides.

Oh, you are saying that the U.S. SHOULD get involved in other country's disputes, and we did a good thing in Iraq.
