I find it hard to believe that an American, let alone an American President, would ever utter such a statement.

I travel all over the world preaching revivals and crusades. America IS, hands down, the greatest nation in the world. We have, and should fight with every economic fiber to maintain, the economic edge over every country. If he doesn't beleive in American exceptionalism, why is he president? (And, yes, that is a retorical question).

Terrible to contemplate a world where there rest of the countries are not serfs to the US. After all, this is God's country.

Is every advantage an "undue" advantage?

Could it possibly be that the U.S. has enjoyed and advantage in the past "due" to our free and capitalist way of life?

He's talking about China letting their currency float. This just goes to show that some connies will stop at nothing to try to destroy the President.

    Could be, probably was.

But it seems like the ChiComs have learned how to combine the best parts of both worlds - let the citizens work out their greed for China's economic advantage while maintaining military control - a lesson Hitler didn't understand.

Nothing quite like a little hyperbole is there?

Commenting on a line from a speech is going to "destroy the President"?

It doesn't sound like you have much faith in Obama.

THe leaders of this nation, it seems, for sometime now have been moving the American economy towards a global one. To do so would require the elimination of American exceptionalism.

We are getting exactly what 'We the People' elected. God help us with this type of mentality running our country.

I'm no economist and I don't understand the principles of floating a currency, but I did live in a country once where the currency was stable viz-a-viz the dollar until somebody (not the dictator with the wife with 600 pairs of shoes) floated the local currency.
It was downhill for the Philippines from then on, all factors included.
