    Hi to all , and my premise , is that Paul did not teach what Jesus , what the 12 apostles and James and the Elders taught .

    #1 , The whole C O N T E X T of Acts is Jewish , EXCEPT when it comes to Paul , just like Acts 15 and Acts 21:20 reveals .

    #2 , In Acts 21:20 , we see that James and the Elders , who are Jews show Paul how many THOUSANDS of Jews are keeping the Law and it is hard to believe what the Holy Spirit has Paul write ?

    I believe that the CONTEXT is Israel .

    #3 , Then , James says to Paul in verse 21 , they are INFORMED / KATECHEO , which means to Sound down into the Ears , to Indocrtinate , Instructe , teach , of THEE , that thou TEACHETH/DIDASKO which means to teach and to learn ;

    a , teach the Jews which are among the Gentiles !

    b , to FORSAKE Moses , which is a captial offense , with the death Penalty.

    c , Saying that they should not CIRCUMCISE , their children , and they were KEEPING the Law of Moses to me !!

    d , And NEITHER to walk AFTER the customs of the Jews !

    This means that Paul was NOT A Law Keeper any more , but was preaching Against the Law that Jesus and Peter were preaching , so what was Paul preaching ???

    If you would keep on reading you would come to verse 24, "Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law."

    In other words, they tell him to do this in order to prove to his detractors that the things being said about him weren't true. People were saying that Paul was teaching men not to keep the law. That wasn't true. Paul was teaching that the law wasn't necessary to salvation, but he wasn't teaching men to keep the law. In fact, he himself said that all things are lawful to him, but not all things edify. In other words, he was perfectly free to eat anything he wished, but he watched himself lest he should cause and offense or be a stumbling block to someone. That's what this is about. The folks at Jerusalem advised him to do this in order to prove to the Jews that he wasn't a blasphemer of the Mosaic Law.

    Acts 26:22-23

    Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
    23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

    Moses and all the prophets KNEW that the Law was not given by God to justify anyone but rather to expose their sinful condition and as a school master lead them to faith in Christ (Gal. 3:18-27).

    The false accusation they make against Paul is that he is a law breaker and is teaching Jews to break the law like he does.

    They ask Paul to prove to all that the accusations are false by publically engaging in a Nazarite oath in the temple. Paul agrees.

    Then in Acts 21-28 Paul repeatedly is questioned on this point and repeatedly claims that he has done nothing outside of or contrary to the Law.

    I find it odd that this simple story line gets missed by many Christians today.

    in Christ,

    Bob

    Some "details" that people think to ignore in the text of Acts -

    Acts 21
    22 ""What, then, is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come.
    23 ""Therefore do this that we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow;
    24 take them and purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; and all will know that there is nothing to the things which they have been told about you, but that you yourself also walk orderly, keeping the Law.

    Notice the "recommendation" is to explicitly follow the Num 6:1-11 oath SHOWING in the eyes of all that Paul not only taught conformity to the OT text of scripture (God's Word) - but he himself practiced it. The saints in Jerusalem argued that this would be public visible PROOF that the wild accusations made against Paul were false.

    Paul confirms this a few times afterwards -- in fact every time he gets a chance.

    Acts 23:4-9
    6 But perceiving that one group were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, Paul began crying out in the Council, "Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; I am on trial for the hope and resurrection of the dead!"
    7 As he said this, there occurred a dissension between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
    8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor an angel, nor a spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
    9 And there occurred a great uproar; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and began to argue heatedly, saying, "We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"

    Paul claims “ I AM a Pharisee”

    Pharisees respond “We find NOTHING wrong with this man”!

    Acts 21:39 But Paul said,I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

    Acts 22:3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

    Acts 24:14-18
    13 "Nor can they prove to you the charges of which they now accuse me.
    14 "But this I admit to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect I do serve the God of our fathers, believing everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets;
    15 having a hope in God, which these men cherish themselves, that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.
    16 "In view of this, I also do my best to maintain always a blameless conscience both before God and before men.
    17 "Now after several years I came to bring alms to my nation and to present offerings;
    18 in which they found me occupied in the temple, having been purified, without any crowd or uproar But there were some Jews from Asia--
    19 who ought to have been present before you and to make accusation, if they should have anything against me.

    In Acts 24 Paul is not preaching “Two Gospels” rather HE claims to believe the scriptures – ALL of them and he also points out that Christianity is being considered a “sect” within Judaism – worshipping the same God – believing in and accepting the same scriptures!

    Paul again makes reference to the OT purification ritual that he undertook to PROVE that he continued to follow the OT ceremonies.

    Acts 25:8-11
    Acts 25
    8 while Paul said in his own defense, "I have committed no offense either against the Law of the Jews or against the temple or against Caesar."

    Acts 26:20-23
    19 "So, King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision,
    20 but kept declaring both to those of Damascus first, and also at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance.
    21 "For this reason some Jews seized me in the temple and tried to put me to death.
    22 "So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place;

    Acts 28:17
    17 After three days Paul called together those who were the leading men of the Jews, and when they came together, he began saying to them, "Brethren, though I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

    Let those who fear Thee not, turn away from Me, and those that have known Thy Testimonies come unto Me.
