It may be a co-incidence but when I clicked on your link I lost control of my laptop.

My system froze and I had to shut down to regain control.

I won't be trying that again.

I just reviewed my security history and it shows a threat detection at the same time that I clicked on the link.

My security software resolved the problem.

DO NOT CLINK ON THAT LINK !!!!

Well I didn't follow your advise.

I didn't have any problems with the site and my software didn't report any either.

    *********************************

As a middle class worker in the northeast, I'm constantly amazed at the number of people who have retired at 55.

I'm discouraged at the number of middle aged (and younger) people living on the dole claiming some sort of disability (many times it's just a mental disability - their too stupid to work so we pay them to do nothing)

I'm angered at the number of government workers retireing after a few years and collecting a pension then returning for a sencond and third dip.

No middle class? We're too busy working to pay for those that don't work.

And Pres. '0' and his party considers me rich and keeps spending and raising my taxes so his union workers keep voting for him.

    Sorry, just ranting....

    Rob

So how has third world labor pools been "exploited"? Is the word "exploited" used simply because companies went to another country followed its laws and did business there? Somehow Americans who own companies are to be required by law to only do business in the states. How dictoral.

Then start your own company hiring only Americans.

How about that some truth added in there.

And they shouldn't. America is free not slaves to communist dictators.

    No evidence.

These numbers oppose each other. You can't have concentrated equity ownership when no one is putting money into stock funds, mutual funds, IRAs, 401ks, 403bs, etc. And most are non-sequiturs.

Besides, if we agree to the premise of each, you'd have to blame President Clinton and Alan Greenspan. It was under their watch that the policies were implemented that allowed the things to happen. Most people who decry the so called evaporating middle class aren't willing to blame their beloved icons.

Finally, if the middle class is going away, the inferred premise is that they're all going to the bottom. Doesn't follow. Post hoc ergo propter hoc, if it's true. But it isn't, so doesn't matter.

Rather than thinking the government should "penalize" businesses for moving out of the country, the government should incentavize businesses to stay.

One thing that the U.S. government could do is to lower taxes on businesses. Right now, the United States, the supposed land of the free is the 2nd highest taxer of businesses in the world. No wonder so many are leaving for countries that don't have such a huge tax burden.

How much must business taxes be cut to offset a 50% or 75% labor cost differential?

So have you started building that house of yours with non-union labor?

Why don't you pay the extra to hire union workers?

How can you complain about a vanishing middle class when you won't support it yourself?

I thought I was the only one on the list who habitually deviated from the subject of the thread.

Waiting for a building permit. Then need to deal with the power and sewer people. probably a 5 year plan.

    I am on topic.

The question was.... Will you be hiring union workers to support the middle class?

Or will you be assisting in wiping out the middle class by hiring non-union scab labor?

    Bumped for billwald

Curious to see how he reconciles his personal financial choices which contribute to the destruction of the middle class against his expressed concern for the middle class.

My Kid, the building contractor, will do whatever he does. He has local knowledge and I don't. When I go to a doctor I don't ask if her nurse is in the union or if she is a Christian.

But you can ask your son the contractor to be sure to hire union workers.

Wouldn't that support the middle class - rather than feeding the scab workers who are contributing to the race to the bottom?

It's ironic that you are posting this in the "Money Talks" section.

Your words of support for the middle class and unions are shouted down by your spending habits - money talks.
