    Acts 2:38
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The first sermon preached during this New Covenant era was delivered by Peter on the Day of Pentecost. In this sermon, he taught that conversion to Christ (repentance, <faith>, and baptism) logically precedes the remission of sins and the reception of the Holy Ghost. The truth Peter taught is still the truth today.

Are you Church of Christ? Your logic is not good thinking Peter helped jumped start it all. They were baptizing way before Pentecost....and was the thief baptized? Nope...he was saved!

His teachings follow pretty close to Alexander Campbell who also believed in baptismal regenerate. Campbell was not accepted by the Presbyterians (in which he was brought up in), or the Baptists (which he then tried to fellowship with). There are some parallels here.

No, I am not Church of Christ, but I am church of Christ. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away our sins.

Great logic is not required to understand Acts 2:38. It says what it means and means what it says.

My beliefs are not based upon Alexander Campbell's teachings at all. They are based upon taking the New Testament at face value.

I do not follow any man except the man Christ Jesus.

Jesus said, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved." I believe what He said.

"To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
    " - Acts 10:43

"The gospel was PREACHED unto them as well as unto us but the word PREACHED did not profit them not being mixed with faith in them that HEARD it." - Heb. 4:2

Acts 26: 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles
    .

Heb. 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

Gal. 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed
    .

Hebrews 4:2 confirms Acts 10:43 that the "witness" given by all the prophets was "PREACHED" by them and people "HEARD" it preached in the Old Testament.

Paul claims that the gospel he preached contained "NONE OTHER THINGS" than what the prophets preached and then he states that it was the message of Christ. Paul said that those who preach ANY OTHER gospel are to be "accursed."

Acts 10:43 demands that "remission of sins" is the same gospel PREACHED by the prophets as preached by Paul and there was NO BAPTISM.

To believe in or on Christ means to obey Him (Jn. 3:36). We obey Him initially by repenting, believing, and confessing Him in baptism. This is how we obey His gospel.

It is also true that "he that believeth not shall be damned." I believe both parts of Mark 16:16.

I am not good at rightly dividing the word, but you are good at it. This is because I do not divide it the way you divide it.

It most certainly does not! To believe "IN" something is to embrace it through faith WITH THE HEART! "with the heart man believeth" - Rom. 10:10. The heart obeys the gospel by complete pursuasion that what God promised in the Person of Jesus Christ God performs by His power (Rom. 4:19).

Justifying faith is an INTERNAL obedience whereas EXTERNAL obedience is the "fruit" not the cause.

JK believes: by grace are you saved through faith.
You believe in a works salvation.
Both can't be right. I know which one believes the Bible.
There is only one gospel message.

Brother Jedi, I do not belong to any denomination. I am opposed to any and all denominations, because they divide the one body of Christ. I was a Baptist for about 40years, but I no longer agree with the Baptist faith.

Contrary to what Brother DHK said about me, I do not believe in works-salvation. Human merit plays no role in our salvation.
