    The undiscerning Glenn Beck

I used to listen to GB a lot in the past and I was listening a little this morning when he was discussing the Ground 0 Mosque. He said it was evil for an individual or group to twist or misrepresent the gospel of Jesus Christ. If he is so discerning to recognize someone using the gospel or any religion to further their own agenda, then how is he so blind as not to recognize the heresy in Mormonism? Someone close to him needs to show him the error of Joseph Smith.

Just more evidence that he is a false teacher seeking to deceive good, caring Christian people.

Ah, that just screams for evidence in the non-religious areas

I've shut him off several times of recent when he gets off into his "religious" moments.

Glen Beck is a news personality, not a preacher/pastor. What else would you expect when ratings are on the line?

Not that some of what he says isn't good stuff -- it is -- but with a grain of salt (as always in anything with the terms "secular" and "media").

His value as a commentator is in his outrageousness. He'll say stuff that no one else will say, and at the very least stimulate a conversation. Good, bad, or ugly, that is worth something in this day of "me too" drive-by media.

If he keeps digging for truth.. one day the truth will bite him, and he will realize his mormon friends are wrong, and Christ will get a hold of him...

I pray this will happen, but we should be aware that the Mormons have tried for decades now to portray themselves as just another Christian denomination instead of the cult with bizarre doctrines that they are. Glen Beck could very well be there Trojan Horse.

Because he is not one of the Masters sheep....John 10:5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice." Jesus sheep have a lie detector "Holy Spirit" on the inside to separate the precious from the vile.

I thought the very same thing when I hear Beck say that. For a man who insists on research to confirm the truth, it is interesting he believes a man who had special goggles to read a manuscript hid in Upstate NY for centuries.

The problem isn't Glenn Beck. The problem is people who put their faith in Beck, Rush, Hannity, Olbermann, Maddow, etc., and who think there's more good that can be accomplished at the White House than the Church house. The gospel can do what the government can't, and far too many on the left and the right in evangelicalism have stopped believing this long ago.

He is a lost Morman and I pray that he will come to know the real Jesus. However, his commentary is spot on and liberals hate him because he tells the truth about the other false savior, Obama.

Yea, I have mixed feelings. THAt he is a Mormon is of little consequence to me. I believe mormons need to be saved but my main problem with Beck is that he is ridiculous.

He gushes like a teenage drama queen. Everything is over the top and I do think he has Nazi tourettes as Lewis Black said.

    He is a big whiner.

And I think he is more emotional than rational.

I am a conservative and I appreciate some of the things he has done- but I think conservatives ought to be more stable and more manly (if they're men) than Beck.

    Is He a Mormon?

I have heard that he's a Mormon, but, yet to find it in writing. If he is a Mormon, you hit the proverbial nail on the head. That is not only a false religion, it is a cult.

In 1999, Beck married his second wife, Tania.[19] After they went looking for a faith on a church tour together, they "settled on Mormonism",[19] and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in October 1999, partly at the urging of his daughter Mary.[22][23] Beck would be baptized by his old friend, and current-day co-worker Pat Gray, in an emotional ceremony.[19] In 2008, Beck created the CD/DVD An Unlikely Mormon: The Conversion Story of Glenn Beck, detailing how he was transformed by the "healing power of Jesus Christ."[24]

    From: Wikipedia

The article also says that he was raised a Roman Catholic.

He has stated plainly that he is a Mormon, a handful of times on air - not often, but he has. When he was in Syracuse, the paper interviewed him and the article mentioned he was a Mormon.

Exactly. People are putting their trust in politics instead of the Lord Jesus Christ.

If I might give voice to what is perhaps our greater concern when intermingling politics and religion...

I believe that we rightly perceive the great hindrance to our way of life, our church culture, and our freedom of speech if some current political trends continue in the direction that things now seem headed. We've sort of had a time of free exercise in America that is virtually unknown in the wider world, and the "experiment" that was the American Republic, of, by, and for the People, with a distinct Judeo/Christian worldview in force, seems about to draw to a close. That draws a lot of inferences that we must start to think about, such as: Will we be able to witness freely in public? Will we be able to preach the whole counsel of the Word from our pulpits, including the parts that are currently not politically correct? Will we be able to "do church" (for lack of a better term) without having government interference or worse? Examining the state of Christendom in the rest of the world, the obvious answer is no. Things will change and a culture that is essentially a Christian worldview will no longer be the same.

This could usher in a time of persecution and increasing regulation of the church by the State -- something that virtually no one within the church will easily accept. It could also mean that the church in America has to start a move toward a more biological growth versus the structural assemblies that we have built since the 1900s, where we have featured large building and campuses instead of a focus on the "ecclessia".

Will a perceived threat against the church make us stronger or weaker is anyone's guess. In Europe, the church grew weaker under similar conditions, to the point where today it barely exists in any strong and public fashion. In other nations, the church, underground, has grown in numbers, strength and influence, while remaining silent in the political arena. I suggest that where we go from here is largely dependent on how we see ourselves, and that we may be in for somewhat a rude awakening one of these days.

    Your Concern is Mine....

I have the same concern as you.... however, I do believe that God can use those who are not in His Will, to bring words of warning.

The messenger may be twisted in his understanding of the Gospels, BUT his message to Americans is not twisted. In fact, he is correct.

Let's just pray that Sarah can witness to him and get his heart to come to the truth. Imagine how powerful a voice he could be for the Kingdom of God.

    Shalom,

I found this piece by Reason TV interesting.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CY5aFvRe2E&feature=sub

I do not believe Reason reports from a Christian worldview, and often their views are anti-Christian. However, I do appreciate their perspective. If the event was not a political movement but one to unite Christians together, this is dangerous and scary. In a religious movement, we should not unite with Glenn Beck. This would be as dangerous as uniting with Socinians and other abhorrent doctrines. The result will be theological liberalism.

If this was merely a political rally, I would have let it pass. Yet, this was more than political as it focused more on the religious. For this, I must stand against and say clearly, we should not pray with others as though we are praying to the same god. We worship a different god.

If this was a political rally. Okay! When you include religion you must include theology. To include theology we must say, "Politics aside, I must first be loyal to my God by not pretending we agree."
