Ok take a shot.......do you think that this passage in Daniel fits today? What's your interpretation on this prophecy to Daniel? Daniel 12:4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” What is the "many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall increase" sound like?

What is the "knowledge" in context? It is found in verse 8:

Dan 12:8 And I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, O my lord, what shall be the end of these things?

It is the knowledge or understanding of Daniel's vision.

Daniel was told to seal it up for it was not for his time:

Dan 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end.

You find the understanding, or knowledge, of the meaning of Daniel is to be known in the 1st century. Revelation makes this clear:

Rev 22:10 And he saith unto me, Seal not up the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand.

The "end" was imminent in the time of the NT writers:

1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:

I believe it refers to our present time.

Not only has knowledge increased, it has increased exponentially.

The desk top computer I am logged in on at the moment has 1000's of times the power and storage capacity of the first computer I worked on in the US Air Force in the early 1960's. It cost millions of $$$ and it was housed in a two story building.

I think it's prophecy of the end times. The knowledge, in my view, isn't merely knowledge in general, but is specifically talking about knowledge of end time prophecy, particularly that which Daniel had just received.

I think you are making a very good point but I want to add one thing. That Daniel was writing to the elect, I think we probably can all agree on that. However, I think the "mother load" of knowledge being referred to will be revealed to the elect of Israel, the literal son's of Abraham, through Isaac thru Jacob in the time of Jacob's distress. We, the elect of the Jewish/Gentile in this church age are getting just a preview of the main event, which can happen at any time, like thief in the night when it is least expected.

This view of course is not compatable with covenant theology since the kingdom is realized in the church these day's, so they say.

Well, looking around me I don't think the end has occured yet.

As for running to and fro, I read once that just two centuries ago the average person never ventured more than 200 miles from home in their entire lifetime. There were exceptions, but this is speaking of the average person. Today, all of us have probably travelled many thousands of miles from home, and many people travel to distant countries regularly.

And that knowledge has increased is evident. They say accumulated knowledge doubles every 5 years or so and is speeding up.

This is why covenant believers have to do a tap dance with respect to the kingdom. It can't be a literal kingdom because they say, the church is the kingdom. It's just not the complete kingdom. That kingdom will come along some day. And it will be a literal kingdom, the same but different from the kingdom that the church is today.

This is, according to them, what intelligent people believe.

The Kingdom of God is a present reality. The scripture is clear on that. The church is a portion of this kingdom, but church doesn't = kingdom. The Kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom, one that is global in its extent and eternal in its reign. It is contrasted to the kingdoms of this world, being utterly unlike them in pretty much every regard. It has no physical boundaries. It doesn't experience degredation. It doesn't have a succession of kings, but rather has an eternal King. It will never be destroyed. It will be the only kingdom left standing after the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
