This was paid programming in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep.
I haven't been able to sleep right in a long time. When I saw this I wondered if others would take this.
Would you take this if it were you?

I would first talk to my doctor. Basically what's in that pill is turkey, valerian and melatonin. LOL - You can get the valerian and melatonin at your local CVS or health food store.

But I'd talk to your doctor. Get a good physical and then start doing the things you need to do in order to sleep well. Make your room dark, no caffeine after 4pm, come up with a routine before bed and make sure you get to bed around the same time every night. If there is anything keeping you awake like stress or worry, deal with those issues as well.

I tried Valerian root. I could only get one to go down. Have you guys ever smelled that stuff? It smells just like doggy.....you know what! I am NOT kidding. It is HORRIBLE! My brain kept telling my throat "that is NOT supposed to be in your mouth!"

I threw it in the trash.

Going to bed at the same time is impossible for those of us who work alternating shifts. Even though research shows this is bad for workers in the long run and reduces productivity, companies are not willing to change, so you put up with a constantly changing schedule or you don't have a job. I have not had a set schedule since 1994. Every job I have had requires working alternating shifts.

I understand and there's not much you can do about it then. :(

Last night there was a news story about sleep and they said 40 minutes of exercise 3x a week significantly decreases sleep issues in study participants. It doesn't have to be super hard exercise but a good long walk at a decent pace would be enough to do it.

I tried Melatonin tablets that someone recommended, but they did absolutely nothing.

I have found exercise to be the biggest help along with covering my windows with thick black plastic so when I turn the light out, my room is totally dark.

On my goodness! That would scare the wits out of me as I am scared of the dark. I have to have some kind of light in the room or as at the moment we have a streetlight across the road and the lights of the traffic through the night. I know that because I don't sleep much either. Not found anything to work for me, not even the herbal stuff.

Exercise does work somewhat though make sure you don't exercise or eat so close to going to bed because then it has the reverse effect. I've always been told to keep a regular sleep schedule but like others said, sometimes that's not possible. You might try drinking some chamonille tea in the evening before bed.
