Jack in the Box restaurants may push away customers if they continue advertising in a manner that offends parents. Their newest commercial has Jack stopping by his parent's house for a visit. While talking with his mom in the kitchen, his dad runs in and says, "Call the doctor! It has been more than four hours!" and looks down. Jack says, "I gotta go!" because he is embarrassed along with anyone who is viewing this commercial.
It is similar to the trashy Vi*gra and ED commercials and should not be airing on TV! (We use * to bypass internet filters.) Even though Jack in the Box is only located in Texas and Florida, OMM could not ignore this issue after numerous complaints we received from concerned parents. Some may patronize the fast food chain while on vacation without knowing how they market their restaurant.
Jack in the Box needs to know we do not approve! Even if you do not live in Texas or Florida, your voice needs to be heard so that other fast food restaurants that are in your area will not use this idea and copy this distasteful advertising.
    TAKE ACTION
Send an email letter to Jack in the Box and insist they remove this "longer than 4 hours" commercial immediately, or they will leave us with no choice but to never eat in their restaurant in the future.

Yes there are 18 states, but I think the miss print is with the idea that the two states of Fl and TX are the ones the add is being ran.

well then it is just a miss print but the issue is not about a wrong number of restaurants. That is how Satan tries to get things off base. The issue is about moral values and if we who name the name of Christ are going to stand for them or against them? Are we going to be salt or continue to be those who has lost our taste?

Don't look at just Jack in the Box; I gave up on going to Burger King several years ago, thanks to their innuendo commercials about sitting.

I agree. Christians should be taking a stance against all types of inappropriate actions that are being done by companies today. I from time to time write my local news media about the women news casters who think it is good to show off that cleavage. Believe me it does get their attention when I complain. The next time you see them they are buttoned up. You can believe me if some man came on their and his pants so low that he showed cleavage there would be an outcry, or even if the men came on their with open shirts the same amount as the women with the men showing hairy chests people would complain so we need to speak up. Our young girls see these people and they think it is all right for them to show cleavage not knowing what they are doing.

I haven't seen the commercial and am glad.

I have to wonder about so many commericals whose messages have absolutely nothing to do with the product they are selling. Sure they make us laugh, scratch our heads in puzzlement, and/or frown at the double or triple entendres', but....

...you know what that tells me?

It tells me that their product can't stand on it's own merit or at least isn't competing well with other products in its own genre. They have to resort to stupidity to get our attention.

And then, by nature of the beast, the stupid PEOPLE who are impressed with the stupid nature of the commercial - go and purchase the product.

Doesn't speak well for us, does it.

I agree. But it isn't the female newscasters who are picking out their air-time clothing. It's the producers of the news cast. When they are hired, they are told that this is how they will be dressing.

Just like when new female entertainers are picked by agents. I happen to know Brooks & Dunn's (the country singers) agent's wife. She told her sister and I that the first thing that (at least country/western agents) do when they sign a new female singer is to tell them that part of the initial contract is for them to get a breast enhancement. The agent will pay for it, but it is non-negotiable. It doesn't have to be a "Dolly Parton" look, but it has to be done nonetheless.

The agents and these TV news producers know that if the male audience has something to look at, that they will keep the channel turned on. (And correct me if I am wrong, but to me that's more insulting to the men of the world than the women.)

I agree, it's unwarranted. And you should be complaining. When we women complain - it does no good.

Actually, it's a marketing ploy that works extremely well. We sit there and say, "that's stupid," and the fact that we had a reaction that made us think about it, causes it to be impressed in our memory.

We may not be able to forget it...but the really stupid part is when we decide to buy it based on recognition, rather than actual intelligent consideration of the product, and comparison to other similar products.

    Kinda like politicians....

*Ding, ding, ding.* There's the legalism meter.

If Christians stopped worrying about all these petty things, stopped griping and complaining about minutia and actually got out and started loving as Kingdom people, we might actually make a real difference.

Dude, there's a difference between loving people, and loving them enough to tell them they're doing something wrong.

That's not our job. We're not the Holy Spirit. To require obedience without a basis in a relationship is pure, straight moralism.

It's also legalistic to be so specific about what is and what is not appropriate as if we had some spiritual authority to do so. What is appropriate to one is not to another. If it bothers you, don't look at it.

So if someone's committing adultery, you're not supposed to tell them they're doing something wrong? You just smile, and say, "that's okay, I love you"?

Did you ever stop to think that the Holy Spirit might be using you to tell someone that God loves them, but doesn't love what they're doing?

I agree about specificity; once you start going down that road, the list never ends.

HOWEVER, this thread is now going off-track.

It's not about some sappy, feel good sort of emotive love, but an actual, tangible reflection of Christ's love that makes a meaningful difference in a person's life.

Specifically, if someone is not a Christian or you're dealing with a non-Christian entity, no, you don't tell them they're doing something wrong. For instance, I have friends at work who are not Christians that have many viewpoints and habits that I don't support. But telling them that I don't support it does not reap any positive benefit. It just alienates.

I know we're off track now. I'll leave it at that.

Apparently Peter, Paul, John the Baptist, and all other NT preachers were just a bunch of legalists because they regularly spoke out against immorality and preached repentance. How can you preach repentance without pointing out the act from which one needs to repent? I'd love to see an answer for this from the NT.

People love to blabber on about how we need to show the love of God toward those around us and it will change their lives. People who preach this stuff regularly ignore the fact that every single NT preacher went about exposing sin and then, from that foundation, showing the great need for repentance and the forgiveness which is found in Christ upon repentance. True love is telling people the truth and exhorting repentance in their lives.

For instance: Christians aren't being unloving when they oppose sodomy and label it as sin, as well as stating that sodomites need to repent. In fact, they are not only doing what God commanded, they are indeed showing more love than those who accept this sinful lifestyle and approve of their abominable activities. After all, no matter what society thinks, God still hates and punishes sin and the best thing for sinners is for their sins to be exposed and for them to repent from those sins. That goes for every man, woman, and child on this planet because we are all sinners and we all need to be preached to, have our sins brought to our eyes, and repent from those sins seeking forgiveness from God. And, indeed, there is rejoicing in heaven over one sinner that repents more than over 99 just persons which need no repentance.

It absolutely is our job to tell businesses and private enterprise that they offend us as Christians and that we won't do business with them if they continue. SNIP

I'm not suggesting that we need be soft on sin. I'm suggesting that we stop drawing little lines in the sand by judging and refusing to positively engage the culture that we live in, simply because we see them as disgusting. When you judge, you shut off any lines of communication.

And the way we preach to Christians is different than the way we should evangelize.

Jesus loved the publicans, prostitutes, and other sinners. He loved them, ate with them, befriended and defended as people who needed Him when the religious elite would not, but He didn't let them stay like they were!

Zacchaeus is a prime example. The people "muttered" against Jesus befriending him, but Jesus did befriend him and did not let Zaccheus stay like he was.

The adulterous woman is another example. Jesus pretty much put everyone else in their place for not showing human compassion. But Jesus told her, "Go and sin no more."

Jesus loved in realistic and honest ways. His love was from His own humility and was more than just lip service. It was real and in His actions. But Jesus Christ never avoided calling a sinner to repentance. And you can't do that by avoiding their sin.

There are other examples. The woman at the well. Nicodemus. Levi (Matthew). And more.

Yes, we are to love even the most unlovable of people - and that includes the rapists, the child molesters, and the highly obnoxious and hateful co-worker. But if we TRULY have love for these people, we will not hide the grace and mercy of God from them. And to show the grace and mercy of God to someone includes showing them that we all are sinners.

I believe that we are to show this kind of love even to brothers and sisters in Christ who are following false teachings.

There is a fine balance that only Christ can help us with. We can't find it by ourselves. We will foul it up every single time. Some are more comfortable in loving people by befriending them and assisting them and showing compassion, but they AREN'T comfortable in speaking the truth.

Others are just the opposite. They want to cram the truth down everyone's throat with no love, no compassion, no firm yet tender touch, and no emulation of how Jesus treated people.

We MUST speak the truth. And we MUST speak it in the attitude and behavior of Christ's love.

There is no "drive-by" Christianity. You can't just yell out, "YOU'RE A SINNER!!" keep going and not stop to do what Jesus did. Jesus initiated an honest relationship with these people - a true compassionate relationship.

But He did indeed point out their sin and need for repentance.
