Great day if they return to conservatism and not stay on the moderate side. Hopefully the GOP has learned something from the Tea Party...they need to be reformed, and the American people want smaller government and less spending!

Maybe if you're in love with being a Republican. I'd say in 24 months from this day we'll see the same angst and consternation with those we elected yesterday.

It was a historic night, yes, but not a "great day" by any stretch. If we believe we can fundamentally change our nation through the electoral box we are setting ourselves up for deception.

Someone once said that politicans and diapers have much in common: They need to be changed often and for the same reason.

The representatives are elected for a 2 year term. It only takes six months to corrupt them.

News that has not been reported that much but could be of paramount significance, is that something like 17 states (mine is one of them) "flipped" from D to R control. In Alabama, the news was monumental--our bunch--we went from a highly partisan, D-controlled legislature (both houses), to both houses being R-controlled--and in the Senate--and the Alabama senate is filibuster-proof. No one made that prediction around here.

IMHO, that's a gamechanger. I think these folks are under the microscope more than any other legislators in a long time--maybe error. Civil laws. Criminal laws. Re-districting laws. Not to mention laws that so very directly affect us.

    Gonna be interesting!

I do echo what was said--if our new folks get power-hungry, retribution will be swift, severe, and they'll be job hunting quite quickly.

That's even more states that can join the legal action against Obamacare too :)

If we keep ousting people who lose sight of why they are up there, eventually the message will get through. That's the point of a voting system. It's called checks and balances. You do things we don't like, we send you back home and put someone else up there. Eventually, we'll get someone who will do what we want. Perhaps, just perhaps, all of this will help create a viable 3rd party option and end the two party political game.

If we're going to have a third party, we desperately need a fourth one.

If we split the conservative vote, let's figure out how to split the moderate/liberal one--otherwise, we have what happened in Florida--only in reverse, where the conservative is on the short end.

That is not the whole problem. Will the republicans hear us now? They are just a responsible for the mess we are in as the Dems. While I am glad that the breaks will now come on against a run away administration I am afraid that we are still not represented in Washington as we should be. No not even if every politician was republican would we be. There needs to be a real change in this country and neither of the two parties is going to bring it about.

    He hears nothing...

    except his socialist agenda.

The only way he will do anything good for America is if he is forced.
