Looking at the Florida election results, I am having doubts about the sanity of voters in my state. We've elected a hard right-wing Senator, Governor, and the entire Cabinet will be comprised of Republicans. In my congressional district, Republican Ander Crenshaw beat my guy, independent Troy Stanley by a 78%-22% margin. Republicans continue to control both houses of the Florida Legislature. This is going to set Florida up to be yet another failure and victim of the Right. In the past, we've benefited from moderate leadership like Charlie Crist, but Rick Scott is going to take Florida down a dark path the likes of which we haven't seen in a long time. The big silver lining is that Amendments 5 & 6 passed and 4 failed, so hopefully we won't have any more gerrymandered districts and extreme politicians elected to Congress and the Legislature.

Please keep it down...I'm trying to sleep.

By the way, if last night was crazy, then Florida should have boarded the crazy train long ago.

Well, let's look at what's happened in Florida lately: Democrats used it in an attempt to steal the 2000 election, and its liberal courts and institutions of law were used to murder Terri Schiavo.

It looks to me like the citizens have had enough and are bringing the crazy train to a halt.

I agree with you about the constitutional amendments.

I imagine that my definition of extreme politicians and yours would be extremely different.

Governor Crist is now a moderate because he takes whatever path is open to him. He believes whatever it would take to get elected. I can't imagine what would happen if a Republican tried to tell a black man to leave the race so he could win as he did to Mr. Meeks, the democratic candidate. Remember a few years ago, Gov. Crist claimed to be a Reagan conservative. He stayed with that as long as it would keep him elected. And when he was faced with a real Reagan conservative, he ran from the Republican party and became an independent.

All the Schiavo case proves is it's important to have an advanced directive for medical issues. I wouldn't want to have artificial feeding and hydration if I were in Mrs. Schiavo's situation.

Crist is nothing more than a political opportunist.

His flip-flopping on abortion is spineless and despicable. He deserved to lose.

To borrow a phrase from the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, he's not pro-choice. He's multiple choice.

The abortion flip is exactly why I voted for Meek.

At least Meek is consistent in his devaluation of human life.

Typical liberal whining. Your guys didn't win, so the other side is crazy and you doubt their sanity. Just face it, your in the minority around here. If you don't like us crazy people and think we are insane, then move.

I'm not moving anywhere. I was born a Floridian and I'll die a Floridian.

BTW, did you vote for Crenshaw or Stanley?

Then you might want to drop the typical liberal attitude of thinking you are better than everyone else. You lost, but it's no reason to say that everyone who voted different than you is crazy and that you doubt their sanity. Your tirade makes you sound like a 3 year old.

I don't think I'm better than anyone else. I don't think most Tea Party/Right-wing people are actually crazy, just misguided. The "crazy train" comment is a reference to a song I heard on the radio. The fact is that we have coming into power the most far-right government in recent history, if not ever. The Republicans will control a super-majority of both houses of the Legislature and the entire Cabinet will be Republicans. I'm just pointing out that Rick Scott's radical policies will be bad for Florida.

Now we are at misguided. You still sit on your horse and look down at folks and can't believe that they are smart enough to vote for who they actually want to vote for. If the "other guy" gets elected it must be because the voters are dumb and misguided, right?

It's a shame that you can't see this attitude you have. Your elitist attitude is why your guys lost. The majority of people are tired of the "elites".

I never said you people aren't smart enough to vote for who you want to vote for. I said "misguided" not "dumb". I even said I don't think I'm better than right-wingers. I can't be more clear. Why can't you accept that instead of making captious remarks about my "elitism"?

Can you be specific about what you envision this "dark path" will consist of?

Charlie Crist was so far to the left that I could not vote for him, he tried to say he was a Reagan Republican, which he wasn't. All of the liberal papers in the state was saying Republican should vote for him when he ran for governor as they said we should vote for John McCain. I didn't cast a vote for governor when Crist ran or for McCain when he ran for president.

Rick Scott is another one I could not support, so again I didn't cast a vote for governor. I might be proven wrong but Scott reminds me of a Madison Ave. Republican or a RINO and I not real big on either.

That's a really good question. What exactly is it that you are afraid will happen Paul. Besides the Schiavo case, what is it these conservatives plan on doing that scares you?

Because your words say different. Just because people voted different than you, you have said they are on the "Crazy Train", that you are "having doubts about the sanity of voters", and that they were "misguided". All these attempts at insulting people that voted differently than you shows that you feel you are better than them and demonstrates your elitism.

You can try and spin your way out of it anyway you want, but your words show your character.

I don't know Paul, but most socialist people I've met in my travel, here and over seas, seems to believe the answer is in the government. They also don't seem to believe in individualism, I believe individualism is paramount in building a country. Look at our country, Edison, Firestone, Ford, Dell and the list goes on and on. Government or their school weren't in the picture. People saw a need or had a dream and acted upon it and we are better off for it. A country run by teachers and lawyers does not have the base of a country, that has Joe the farmer, Joe the plumber, Joe the doctor, Joe the teacher and the list goes on and on. It is what can we put into our country that makes it better for all or attempt to do that.
