Only if they want their cars to be vandalized by radical liberals.

I have a different take on it.

Let me say up front, that I know that states use this as revenue now (as well as some charities in some states)...so this won't happen.

I'm not a fan of specialty plates at all.

I see it as a safety issue.

Years ago, I witnessed a crime--and my report of the plate number led to an arrest. Nowadays, there are so many plates that you don't know what state the plate comes from. Also, there can be multiple tag numbers that are Identical (for instance, out of the 10-12 colleges in Alabama that have tags, each of the tags might have someone who bought "No1 Fan". There's no guarantee I could have adequately ID'd the subject's getaway car with all the plates available today.

Too hard to ID folks when needed.

Like I said...I know that due to making money, my objections will go unheeded...but the purpose of License plates is to quickly ID cars when needed. This becomes too difficult with 50-100 specialty plates per state.

    Just MHO.

Are you sure that this is the case?

Could it be that the issuing State requires unique plate letter-number combination regardless of the plate background selected.

With a computerized data base for plates that would seem much more likely.

I have a regular license plate with an FC Dallas license plate frame around it.

I have a bluegrass music plate on front. :)

I also have a nice Libertarian Party plate I can put on front when the mood strikes me.

No, I'm not. Just making an assumption.

My problem still exists--I don't know from which state the license plate comes--if there's only one, I can recognize it. On some plates as well, coloration/decor make it difficult to see the name of the state.

It did. The hood flew open, at 80 mp.....er...75 mph, and I had to use the rumble strips to get off the side of the road. This was about 45 miles north of Dillon, Mt.. In other words, in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, it was a high-traffic day, and within only 45 minutes another car stopped, and called the cops for us when he got into cell phone range.

And B.T.W., the Montana State Highway Patrol is the finest law enforcement community in the U.S..
