Secret Walmart Survey Shows Inflation Already Here

    EXCERPT

On November 3, the Fed announced its much-anticipated purchase of $600 billion in Treasury securities. An effort to keep market rates low since the central bank’s benchmark rate is already at zero. The Federal Open Market Committee’s statement said, “Currently, the unemployment rate is elevated, and measures of underlying inflation are somewhat low, relative to levels that the Committee judges to be consistent, over the longer run, with its dual mandate.”

But since that statement, interest rates have actually gone up, backfiring on a Fed chief who wants his quantitative easing to spark inflation of 2 percent annually. A moderate amount of inflation would be considered good for the economy. The problem is that inflation is already running well above a healthy level, investors said, Bernanke is just not looking in the right place, like a Walmart.

I don't believe it is a secret, I've found it in a few places.

I knew grocery prices were going up as well as the hospital and my doctor and dentist. However yesterday I went down to look for a sofa, I thought they were giving me the price to buy the store, but no, it was just the sofa.

Does anyone not know that inflation is real and here? Anyone who shops should know this without any survey.

This isn't related to the Fed decision. Anyone who suggests it is doesn't understand basic economics.

The explosion in food stuff prices is related to poor harvests, lack of resources, and increasing demand. Its been widely reported for a number of months now. As related to other goods the increasing prices has been moving across different sectors for a while now.

Technically, the inflationary trend has been inching prices up since 2000.

There is no explosion in the price of most consumer goods.

The general increase is caused mostly by the trashing of the dollar in the international market. The Canadian dollar - our biggest trading partner - has been at par or worth more than the US dollar.

    Of course.

But the Obama administration doesn't have a clue. They are suffering from a total disconnect from reality or terminal ideological stupidity.

    Why is about President Obama?

This is about the inflationary trend that has been consistently building. If anything the current FDA leadership has been noting the severity of looming food shortages. Granted I've got better things to do than track down all your pointless ad hoc negative claims, but I'd be willing to bet there is probably a couple of memos, press releases, and/or statements from departments within the administration about the inflationary trend.

Of course you do. You wouldn't be an Obama apologist if you did.

Ignorance is bliss for an ideological apologist.

Would you please quit labeling people you haven't met and know very little about? It's disrespectful, divisive and ungenerous. It doesn't at all lend to a mutually beneficial discussion, but it's like you don't care. Your tactic is to make a bunch of obvious or petty claims and then insult and label everyone who has the audacity to disagree with you.

Thankfully, we don't have to hear it from revmitch anymore. Sooner or later, it's going to be you.

...unless you decide to approach discussion with some common charity and generosity.

    Your fellow republican,

I'm not a republican and if you don't like the threads I post, just don't participate.

Then you can save your sanctimonious sermonizing for another forum.

If you don't want him to post in your threads, don't start them. You need to learn some manners and stop being intellectually dishonest.

Wasn't this thread supposed to be about inflation? Lets start another thread devoted soley to name calling and accusations from other threads, that way you guys will be easier to ignore.

    Back to the topic:

Explosion might not be the right word, but there has been a steady increase in prices and the cost of living for the last several years. All while our government economists say inflation is zero. They manipulate which prices go into their inflation index to skew the results but the bottom line is that it costs more to live. Its not just food prices either. There are a few items like clothing that since they are no longer made in the US are still cheaper than they were a few years ago, but overall prices are going up while wages are going down.

North Carolina Tentmaker is correct. You have made no comments pertaining to the subject. None at all.

Start another thread for you name calling and vitriol and just pass this one by. You obviously have nothing to contribute here.

Of all the posters here who could complain about "vitriol," Carpro you are not the one to do it. Don't you see how this makes you look like a hypocrite?
