This morning, the pastor was talking about sin. He mentioned that up front, sin often looks appealing, but you will pay for it in the long run - much like the recently passed Health care bill.

Was that mixing politics and religion, did he go over the line?

Yes, that was mixing politics and religion. Also, he risked offending those in the audience who don't agree with him politically and they may have not heard another word in his sermon because they were stewing over what he said politically.

He Only Crossed the Line if You Are . .

. . a democrat or liberal. I'll bet the conservatives in the congregation loved the analogy.

In 2nd Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

    Was he preaching the word?

    It's a cheap shot.

Probably looking to get a cheap laugh too, so he sold out his sermon for a silly point. There's better ways to make his point, he's just not being very original.

While I would never have preached that from the pulpit; we should never forget that the truth is the truth...to be poor stewards does not honor God. And yes, poor stewardship, like sin, is sweet for a season, but eventually the bill comes due.

Yes, Sir!!!! We will be paying for the Health care bill----"in the long run"-----looking at the pastor's point from a preacher that has been preaching now for 25 yrs(me)-----his point was----when you sin you will pay for it in the long run(for years to come you will still be paying for the sin you sinned that particular point in time)---just like the Health care bill---we will pay for the health care bill for years to come

Did he go over the line? That depends totally on who you ask. I am a 100% disabled Veteran and I am already receiving the Health Care Mr. Obama's team seeks to deliver to everyone in the US... you're going to regret this.

I do not see God being angry with him, he told the truth.

Liberals are so easily offended. They hate anything patriotic displayed or performed in the church and are very offended by anything they perceive to be political in nature being said from the pulpit especially if it is thought to be anti-democrat. If they are so offended, as Ken suggested, maybe they should go to a place were their ears can be tickled.

Are you saying it is not patriotic for a country to take care of its citizens and have decent medical care for them?

No, I am not saying that.

I believe that we had decent medical care in the US before Obama healthscare bill.

I believe that the Obama healthscare bill will have a negative impact on the medical care system.

Will you please answer my question?

Do you believe that we did not have decent medical care in the US prior to the Obama healthscare bill?

Why do you believe we have good health care when so many have no health care in the US?

Even for those who have no health care now?

No. Why? Because I do not know enough about it to make a sweeping judgment. But for those who have no coverage now it probably would be an improvement. Remember the case in Maryland where the little boy died from an abscessed tooth because no dentist would care for him because his family had no insurance?

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/163856/child_dies_for_lack_of_dental_care.html

I have good health care, but I am fortunate. Many are not fortunate. Agree?

How, in your opinion, could health care be improved for all?

Crabby, I am not going to derail the thread by turning this into a rehash of the health care bill.

You did that already. But thanks for realizing it. I am not surprised that you refuse to answer my questions. Shall we start another thread and will you answer questions?

I think the preacher sinned in his pronouncement.

Lack of love, concern, sympathy and compassion for those who have no health care and need help. He is like the priest who "passed by on the other side," IMHO.

How do you feel about him?

Do you think Jesus sinned when He addressed the King Herod as "that Fox"??? Which was a Jewish/Roman insult

And do you think Jesus sinned in any way when He addressed Pontius Pilate concerning the "twelve Legions of Angels" standing by in order to smash Pilate like a bug????

These are easy words for someone who has their health care insurance paid for my others.

I believe any pastor who uses the pulpit to espouse political viewpoints should not be tax exempt. Give up your tax exempt status and say anything you want!
