A friend gave me a bar of red soap when I was young. It looked and smelled really good...so good I bit it. It didn't taste good, but I always would bite soap because one time a babysitter gave me a white chocolate bunny for Easter and I thought it was soap and cried until she convinced me to bite it. I still didn't believe her, I just KNEW it was the wrong color for chocolate, so I remained convinced that some soaps just taste really good so for years I'd bite any bar of soap that looked and smelled nice just in case it tasted good.

I have to admit that it's STILL tempting to bite or lick a nice, smooth bar of soap, especially the hand-made ones that look so beautiful and often smell like fruits or almonds.

Am I alone in this or does anyone else carry over odd...I mean, uh, perfectly normal weirdnesses borne of childhood experiences?

Don't knock it till you've tried it!

Because then you'll have good cause. I STILL haven't found a good tasting soap! :BangHead: What EVER could be the problem?!

Since soap, is, was and always will be intended for cleansing purposes, are you telling us that your mouth is in constant need of cleansing?

    Cheers,

    Jim

Nope, not in need of cleansing because I use SOAP! So HA! :tongue3:

Salty, my husband has that issue too. The good part is that no matter what I cook, I've yet to hear a "yuck!"
Then again he could just be skeered that I'll wash his mouth out with soap...

Speaking of which.... I've tasted ever kind of soap known to man or woman. Mama was fond of correcting the loose tongue of her youngest child with a generous serving of soap. Lava is by far the worst. Ivory is an acquired taste. Irish Spring smells much better than it tastes. Dove is so creamy!

Personally, Gina, I believe your cheese has slipped of its cracker

Look here pirate boy, I'll just replace the cheese with a slice of soap.

A creamy Dove bar, perhaps, or the slightly harder yet airier Ivory. I hear the French make a good milled soap.

    hehehe

I thought the French were known for good SOUP? What a disappointment.

Then Mrs Salty will want to talk to you. She gets upset she asks "Did you enjoy supper" and I am unable to say it tastes good.
When I clean off some PM< I will send you her email address.

It's definitely frustrating to have the person you love most not be able to appreciate the difference between a meal slammed together in 10 minutes and one you slaved over for hours to get just right.
It's even worse to not be able to rightfully get upset about it, because we still do, as illogical as that seems!

What caused yours? My husband's is from the chemicals/acids he worked around in his time in the Air Force.

Go the battlefield and eat out of a bloody river with dead bodies floating by,then complain a clean meal in a peaceful land!!!!

I wash me hands in sink and eat with my fingers. We wash dishes under flowing hot water, set in a rack to dry, and use them from the rack for next meal. Lovely.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Gina,

Over the years I got to be quite a connoisseur of soap. My personal preference was for Lux, but I found Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor - heady, but with just a touch of mellow smoothness. Life Buoy, on the other hand, YECH!!!

    :tongue3:

That awful, I am sorry to hear that. On the bright side you should be able to be the healthiest eater there is.
