I ran across this one today and to me it has very much a ring of truth:

Please add ones you like and/or found interesting.

The early bird gets the worm.

(Of course they never tell you what happens to the early worm.)

There is so much good in the worst of us,
And so much bad in the best of us,
That it hardly behooves any of us
To talk about the rest of us.

Hmm, funny but inaccurate. Ancient China ... indeed modern China does not have toilet stools, but a hole in the floor. If you see a Western toilet in China it is a concession, say by a hotel, to tourists. When not where a Western toilet is available some tourists have a tough time squatting ... with no hand rail to hang onto. LOL

So perhaps the line should read, "Man who stands on toilet ... high over hole."

Man who stand on toilet violates OSHA standards, and gives his employer many fines.

    Use a ladder.

I'm sure it's not accurate. I think George Carlin said it.

When I was a kid and went to visit my cousin, I had to use an out house. It was hole too. I guess I could survive in China.

Ahhh OSHA. And the EPA, MSHA.....I just love those agencies. In our stone quarry business, we had to deal with them ALL the time. Blood suckers.

Not sure what you're referring to there, Gwyneth, as yours is only the second message in the thread, and you didn't write the OP.

But we in the UK use the word "post" where Americans say "mail". We never talk about the person who delivers letters as the "Mailman", do we? Perhaps that has something to do with your "senior moment" - or more likely, I'm just spouting off-topic nonsense:)
