Could Gay Marriage Mean No More Gay People?

I was thinking about something the other day and I wanted to share it with you people and get some feedback. It has been posited that homosexuality has a genetic component. I'm not sure if that's true, but let's say it is. I don't support gay marriage, but I'm going to propose that allowing it and socially accepting gays could lead to the extinction of gay people if homosexuality is genetic.

Here's how it works: In a non-gay accepting, non-gay marriage allowing society, gay people would be likely to be socially pressured into a straight relationship, thus passing on the gay gene. For example, if a gay man has sex with a woman, it could lead to the birth of a gay baby. Therefore, by allowing gay people to have legally-sanctioned gay relationships, the gays can be with each other and not with opposite-sex partners.

Another idea is having the government pay gay men to have vasectomies. That way, even if they have an intimate encounter with a woman, the gay gene will not spread.

This would be a win-win for everyone. Gay people could fall in love, get married, and live out their lives in peace. Meanwhile, they will die out and we could have a straighter, more genetically pure society. By ensuring that gay mens' little gay sperm never impregnate a woman, we can end male homosexuality.

Keep in mind that this is just the results of my brainstorming. I'm not saying I support gay marriage or anti-gay eugenics. I'm sure that homosexuality is more complicated than a simple genetic issue, and homosexual intimate encounters are still sinful regardless.

I hope this isn't serious. It's too early for me to tell.

Look a little closer at the type of people who have gay children. Generally, the father is, in a manner of speaking, about as un-gay as you can be.

Paul, you should study up on recessive genes a little to understand why your proposal would not work.

If we grant that being gay is genetic (which I do not believe) it would necessarily be the product of recessive genes - which would be carried even in straight people. Under your scenario two straight people with the hypothetical recessive gay gene could still hypothetically produce a gay child.

Besides which your solution involves institutionalizing and socially accepting sin - and we already have enough of that.

You also have to consider that many gay people want children and will do whatever it takes to conceive.

Like Targus said, it would take many, many generations to "weed" out the recessive gene from the rest of the population. Probably more generations than this world has.

Demographic studies indicate that gays (and liberals of all sorts) are discovering the error of their ways by way of the population replacement rate.

Simply put, those who have grafted on to ideas like none or one child per family, abortion on demand, free exercise of homosexual lifestyles, etc., are simply not propagating to replace themselves and will slowly dwindle until they are non-existent -- unless -- they recruit.

Note that recruitment efforts are rampant! They drive political systems, they drive media, and they drive our educational system.

Stop the recruitment efforts and watch the entire affair go away after 20 or so years.

Conversely, groups that favor large family structures, Mormons, Muslims, Conservative Christians, and other groups who either do not favor the liberal agenda or do not practice birth control, etc., are growing rapidly.

In Europe, the Muslim advance will take over most of Western Europe without firing a shot merely by population replacement, and we'll see the tipping point within 20 years. At that point, Muslim people will hold the majority in Europe. There is no way to stop this, as it is far too late to start the replacement population to recover. In America, the same will happen with Hispanics, who are out-pacing the current majority people group(s) at a rapid pace. The tipping point in the USA will be within 50 years.

In a sense, the liberal, non-Christian worldviews that have pervaded our culture since the start of the 20th century have done their damage and the people groups of the world will shift in influence with no real hope of ever seeing the world as we have known it for the past 20 centuries again.

Gonna be lots of adjustments to be made for those who are under age 50...

Given a choice I would much prefer to learn Spanish over being martyred for refusing to worhsip a false god.

One of my dearest friends, Paul, has dark brown hair. Her husband has medium brown hair. Both of their children are as red-headed as Howdy-Doody.

    Why?

No, she didn't have an affair with the red-headed milkman. :BangHead:

Both she and her husband obviously carry a recessive gene for red hair.

They are both, in terms of genetic traits for hair color, a Br(r). Br = brown (dominant). (r) = red (recessive).

The odds of having a child with brown hair were 3 out of 4. The odds of having a red-headed child were 1 out of 4 and the odds of having TWO red-headed children were 1 out of 16. A long-shot, but it did happen.

    Think about that a while.

Amen, and I'd start learning Spanish... (I am)

    A few demographics nuggets:
    http://spanishsts.net/fast-facts.htm

About the genetic link... Gays long ago disavowed any potential link between DNA and their homosexuality. If there is a genetic link, then we might be able to change that link, thus eliminating the whole issue of homosexuality. They evidently do not wish for such to be true.

I expect that the truth of the matter is found in Romans 1, but that gets off the OP, so I'll not press that here unless the issue comes up.

Will not happen if homosexuality is a genetic defect. Anyone ever observe cows or dogs?

    I don't know...what color is the milkman's hair anyway? :tongue3:

Actually, I believe you are correct, it's recessive genes.

    Genes and not choice?

I haven't heard of any research to support that.

    Are you aware of any?

It is a choice to act on it, but some of the urges are chemical/emotional. Of course, that doesn't prove heredity.

Can you provide a link to something that shows that homosexuality has been linked to something chemical?

There is no reason why Hispanics won't assimilate into the main population. Furthermore, the tipping point will never occur. White people today account for just under 80 percent of the population, and in 2050 we are projected to be 74 percent of the population.

EDIT: I know I'm hijacking my own thread, and I'm going to respond to the on-topic stuff about gays when I get home from work at Midnight.

Do those figures include the Hispanic race?

Uh...chemicals control the way we think. They can be hereditary, caused by use of brain-altering materials, accidents, or even thoughts.

It doesn't constrain us to behavior, but it can make one struggle.

If it's a defect, it should be treatable and correctable, no?

I understand what chemicals are and how the body uses them. Thanks for the explanation though.

What I asked, however, was some proof that linked chemical reactions in the body to homosexual behavior. You asserted it was so and I'm simply asking for proof.

Heterosexual is. Why wouldn't the opposite be true?
