Union Drops Health Coverage for Workers’ Children.

One of the largest union-administered health-insurance funds in New York is dropping coverage for the children of more than 30,000 low-wage home attendants, union officials said. The union blamed financial problems it said were caused by the state’s health department and new national health-insurance requirements.

    SNIP

... new federal health-care reform legislation requires plans with dependent coverage to expand that coverage up to age 26,” Behroozi wrote in a letter to members Oct. 22. “Our limited resources are already stretched as far as possible, and meeting this new requirement would be financially impossible.”

Caught this at the end of the article...

"As premiums went up and employer contributions remained constant..."

“We hope the state of New York will do the right thing and provide the funding necessary for this most vulnerable population of direct caregivers,” the union said in a statement"

IOW the union is looking for the taxpayers to pay the insurance premiums for their union members.

    Uh huh.

They support the creation of the Obamacare monstrosity and then look to the public to bail them out of the problems it's creation caused them.

I'd say that's fairly typical of unions. Always with the hand out.

Keep in mind that most SEIU members are minimum wage workers, janitors and hotel workers. Of course, you all think they could better afford to pay for their health if there was no minimum wage.

If all the union gets them is minimum wage what good is the union?

What are they paying union dues for?

Other than to enrich their union owners that is.

Don't expect a union groupie like bw to appreciate the truth of your statements.

Its non-sense. Minimum wage workers are not unionized. Imagine paying dues to earn less than McDonalds pays.

    1. I doubt they're minimum wage.
    2. Why should the public pay their health insurance?
    3. If the union goons would quit skimming, there would be more for health coverage for the members. Organized crime rarely works out well for the "working man."

    Well said.

When minimum wage is the starting point every dollar is a big deal. Then there are scab states governed by the federal minimum wage. Any of you working for the federal minimum wage?

Oregon is a beautiful state. Portland is a beautiful city. I would love to live in Coos Bay (I'd have to get divorced first) but the state income tax would kill me. Oregon is the backwater of the western states. If gas stations were not required to hire people to pump the gas your unemployment would be another point or so higher.

How does the above support your previous statement and what does it have to do with the topic?

How's that sales tax workin fer ya up there? We do not have any such. It is a backwater state because Portland, Salem and Eugene are packed with liberals that are weighing us down with liberal politicers and a governor that does crazy things with the money we don't have.

As for the pumping of gas, the gas industry says it would not change their hiring practices. Most have two people running the places at a time.

Nonsense, there is an abundance of resource, just have the president print a gigabuck of more money to bail out the kids.

Sales tax is working just fine or at least was working fine until the economy was intentionally crashed. Looking at the map, Oregon should have an economic advantage over Washington in agriculture and no worse in than agriculture. WA doesn't have anything comparable to the Willamette Valley. I think the owl decision screwed you worse than us but Oregon didn't get involved in the Indian Fish War, (Judge Boldt) did it?

There are only two states which prohibit a person from pumping his own gas, OR and NJ so it can't have anything to do with company policy. It is state law.

We all know how your mind wanders, but it's time to get back on topic. We also know you were either mistaken or lying about your minimum wage statement.

Do you have anything that's not a fabrication to contribute that actually pertains to the subject?

Boy, when you call billwald on the union silliness, he takes the thread off on an even more bizarre tangent than normal.

Oh well, gotta deflect the myriad shortcomings of organized cri.....er, unions.

No matter how much you're paid, it's too much. You're incapable of getting my blood pressure up.
