I often see many folks write dates all in numbers - eg 3-5-11. To Americans that would be Mar 5, 2011. However to Europeans, (US) Military and others that would equate to 3 May 2011.

May not be a bad ideal when writing the date to write out the month -at least the 3 letter abbreviation - to avoid any confusion. eg May 9 or 11 January.

ps I had to edit this beacuse I wrote out the wrong month as I got confused with the numbers....

I think we can get by and figure it out. :)

Are you suggesting that BB members actually should think?

When it was 10/10/10, what country were you in?

In many cases we can "get by and figure it out", by the context, or when the number of the day is greater than 12. But if I were to write, "Fred was baptized 11/5/2010", you might think, "Oh, David's British, so he means 11th May!" But that might not be the case. I might have thought, "Well, the majority of BB members are American, so I'll write the date in their way." In that scenario, 11/5/2010 would have meant 5th November.

I realise my example is very contrived, but I agree with Salty that using the name of the month would avoid all confusion.
