No thank you. Although I might be "tempted" to answer just to see how many of the questions I get completely wrong. :)

    That church is pure? WOW!

Better not have me preach there, I'm a sinner, saved by grace.

    Absolutely!

Nothing like shaking up a bunch of Pharisees!

I'd probably escape within an inch of my life, though

They are more than a little bit over the top, but I do understand what they're trying to do. I have had people coming to my church in the past, who were invited to preach, but ended up peddling 'Healing ministries' or something similar. We need to be very wary about whom we invite into our pulpits.

However, rather than sending out vast questionnaires, it is surely better only to invite people that you know, or who are recommended by someone whom you can trust.

A team of wild horses could not drag me in that church.

I took a look at their website and they're hung up on a lot of things but separation seems to be the biggest single thing for them. This is also borne out by their very detailed and interesting questionaire. I wonder if anyone ever passes muster on their questionaire?

I can see them running after you with their big black Bibles and their ties flying in the breeze as they slip and fall because their nice black dress shoes were too slippery. Of course the women, all dressed in their jumpers, no makeup and hair all tied in a bun would be sitting back in the pews crying......

I'd be high-fiving you on the way out. LOL

We have an easy solution to this. Don't invite anyone to speak who you don't know. Easy peasy. If you know them, you know where they stand. If you don't know them, get to know them first.

Gotta love the hypocrisy of this thread. We've got baptists who claim to believe in local church autonomy blasting a church who hasn't violated any scriptural precedent I can think of. I see people calling them Pharisees and I can't help but chuckle at the hypocrisy.

I get what they are trying to do, but I don't think this is probably the best way to go about it. Still, they are free to require visiting ministers to sign this if they like. Who am I to tell them no? Do I have scripture that forbids such a thing? Nope. Furthermore, I see people saying they wouldn't go there because of this. Why? If you perceive a place to be in error, don't they need sound preaching to bring them out of such error?

No one is questioning their autonomy. Please reread the op. They can handle snakes there if they want to- we don't care. But most of us would not go. And we would probably say they were psycho too. But that doesn't make us hypocrites.

    Nope...

And I'm not even questioning the local church's autonomy. They can do whatever they like. I just don't have to participate!

Uh, most of us would not be allowed to go there mostly due to the notion that using another version than a KJV to them would be wrong either "Scripturally" or do to their "traditionalism."

I am happy you came here to tell us "I thank thee I am not as others. I..." :)

I think this would be the best way. However, for a traveling minister, I can understand that this would not always be possible.

Personally, I think the questionnaire is a GREAT idea! Mine would have much less information on it, though. I am not concerned about the eschatology categories, and it is plain whoever made this survey has no earthly clue what Lordship Salvation is..

Particularly funny to me, is that they say that people are saved by faith, but not "commitment" like us LS proponents claim. Of course, "commitment" is a synonym for faith, but hey...

Much more troubling to me, are churches who will let anyone in their pulpit, just because they are "Southern Baptist" or "because brother so and so said he was o.k." The pulpit should be guarded more than the tithe, in my opinion.

Totally agree. They can do what they want but we're free to disagree as well. :)

See, we don't have traveling ministers come to our church. If they do, we know them and we know them pretty well. We've had many speak in our pulpit and all were invited by us by personal invitation.

I agree and that's how we do it. I can't imagine just having someone we don't know take over the pulpit for a time. I thank God for our leadership who protects our flock from those who could be less than good for our congregation. :)

If the Apostle Paul were still traveling about, we might welcome a visit from Him. But from that questionaire, I expect that some churches may turn even Paul away...

He certainly would not be able to answer those questions in the way that they seem to lead. Might lead to another episode like this:

1 For I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you. 2 For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained? 3 And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all. 4 For I wrote to you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you. 2 Cor 2:1-4 (ESV)
