Say friends of yours ask you to come preach for a function, in this case, a New Year's Eve service. Then you find out the pastor told the church they wouldn't have the service because he didn't want to preach one, but the men went ahead and scheduled it anyway and found other men to preach instead.

What if you didn't know about the conflicting opinions? Would you come preach for them? Would you talk to the pastor first? Your thoughts, please.

By the way, my dh was asked, but declined since we already had plans at our own church that night. At the time, we did not know there was a conflict between the other pastor and church members at the other church. We found out later.

Sounds like a snake pit to me. Glad God got him out of that little ditty.

Are you referring to a snake pit as figuratively or literally?

I suppose if a good friend of mine asked me to preach at a church, I wouldn't have even have thought to ask him about the pastor. Now, I suppose I would ask....

NEVER - NEVER - NEVER agree to PREACH in another church without the express consent of the PASTOR.

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE OTHERS DO UNTO YOU.
