It takes more to govern than to simply be against and never consider what should be done. The party of "NO" needs to find something positive it can promote for the country and the people of the US.

    No agenda?

Permit Americans to buy insurance across state lines

    Curb frivolous lawsuits against doctors

End government control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Save an estimated $100 billion by rolling back federal spending to 2008 levels, with exceptions for the elderly, U.S. troops and veterans

Impose a net hiring freeze on non-security federal workers. New employees would be hired only to replace those who leave.

Extend all Bush-era tax cuts permanently

Cancel all unspent money from Obama's $814 billion economic stimulus plan.

Require congressional approval of any new federal regulations that may add to the budget deficit or make it harder to create jobs.

    Bolster border security

Require that suspected militants be tried in military rather than civilian courts

Work with state and local officials to better enforce immigration laws.

Those are their promises ... which they are already backtracking from.

You link mentions virtually none of the items that I listed.

BTW - you links in essence say that the Democrats are now the "party of no" since they are planning to do everything that they can to block the Repuplicans.

Give them time. It is very early in their time of being the majority.

Let's see what type of legislation they propose ... or will they simply wait and be against anything the Obama proposes or anything that comes out of the Senate.

Maybe the Democrats learned from the GOP about saying "No." I hope not. We need two parties that will work together for the good of the country and not two who refuse to do anything cooperatively fearing who gets credit.

So then you admit that you jumped the gun by starting this discussion?

Not at all. In the first week they are already walking away from promises. Give them time and they will walk away from more promises and hope people forget. They know that blind followers will not remember and will defend them even when they are indefensible.

    I read them.

What specific promises do you think that the Republicans have already walked away from?

You mean you really read the articles and do not see what is being said and what they are back tracking from? Read the articles again. Maybe you can figure it out for yourself. :praying:

For all of our casual viewers...

    Isn't his funny?

First Crabby says that the Republicans need more than rhetoric.

I put out a list of specific Republican proposals for various areas.

Crabby responds with "they are walking away from their promises".

I ask which promises are they walking away from.

Crabby responds with "read my articles".

And we now have Crabby in his element... assigning homework.

And hoping that someone else will find the proof to support his baseless claims.

    Stay tuned.

    I read them.

Now please tell me what YOU believe that the Republicans are walking away from.

    Or are you unable to?

If you cannot tell by reading the articles then you would never understand my answer.

Also, do you realize it was day 1 when the breaking of promises began?

    Sorry - it doesn't fly.

    From your article...

"Many people knowledgeable about the federal budget said House Republicans could not keep their campaign promise to cut $100 billion from domestic spending in a single year. Now it appears that Republicans agree. [...]

Now aides say that the $100 billion figure was hypothetical, and that the objective is to get annual spending for programs other than those for the military, veterans and domestic security back to the levels of 2008, before Democrats approved stimulus spending to end the recession."

Getting spending back to 2008 levels IS cutting spending by $100 billion.

Liberals want to spin this as backing down by the Republicans - but it is not.

$100 billion in less spending is $100 billion in less spending.

BTW - you said "walking away from promises" - plural.

Your first one fails - what else have you got?

How is any amount of reading of any material found anywhere on the internet going to tell me "what YOU think are the broken promises"?

This requires a personal response concerning your personal opinion.

What promises do YOU think have been broken.

A link to an article will not answer that.

Only YOU can answer that question.

What promises do YOU think have been broken?

    OK, make up your mind.

Your OP castigates the GOP for doing a lousy job...even though they've not even been in charge yet.

Then you say, "give them time."

    Which one is it?

(of course, we know what YOUR answer is. The Republicans are evil, so they are wrong before they start.)

Oh, and just to correct an oft-repeated false premise of yours:

This "party of 'no' business is a crock. When you're not in charge, and the people that are in charge are proposing a series of horrific pieces of legislation, what are they supposed to do? Go along with Marxist garbage? Sometimes, "No" is the bravest, and wisest stand.

Not to mention: Most of the time, the best thing the government can do is get out of the way and let the free, industrious people of this great country do what they do best.

90% of all the ideas I see out of Washington are crap. So I say let's see more of "no." The less they do up there, generally the better I do down here.

Are there jobs for our government? Sure. But the list ought to be much shorter than what they have made it.

BTW...you've just reinforced your status as the most intellectually dishonest poster on this board. You absolutely, steadfastly refuse to look critically at anything done by our Socialist/Marxist side of the aisle.

I was, wondering just this morning, what had happened to our liberal librarian and his pet dog, "Mr. Homework" . And, low and behold, he's back dodging legitimate questions and giving reading assignments.

I'm with RBell. I'm glad they had the guts to say "no" to the agenda that the Dem's were shoving down our throats. Even if the Republicans had offered no alternatives (which is far from the truth) it would have been much better than the garbage that we got for the past two years. Example: Ms. Nancy said that the legislation needed to pass before we could see what was in it. Only a moronic legislator would vote on a bill that he or she had not studied in depth especially when it comes to something like Obama Care. And the democratic morons and a few RINO morons drank the kool-aide and dumped something on us that stinks. Too bad there weren't more Republicans to say "no."
