I received the following info and poll from a friend. I checked out the web site and found it a disgusting question. Political correctness has gone too far. The flag should remain in the classrooms, it may help those from south of the border to see that it is their parents who need to assimilate and become part of this great nation.

We removed God when we took prayer from the schools, and now we want to take away national pride and patriotism. This is astounding, but, it may be the next tradition to fall.

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

READ: Vote NO on FOX to banning the flag in America

"This is disgusting, to put it politely, and your opinion and help is needed to send a message to those who are flirting with this idea. . ."

"This is just sickening. Only 56% have voted on the FOX poll to NOT ban the flag in school and something like 36% voted YES, to ban it (Note: Latest count, at 1:30 PM on Friday, is 72% NO and 21% Yes, which is still unthinkable). What is going on in this country??" :tear:

"Fox is running a poll about whether the flag should be banned in schools in order not to inflame Hispanic students. The poll is being sandbagged by SEIU and we should mount a counter action if you agree with that the flag should be taken down for no one."

Moveon.org, funded by George Soros, Organizing for America , and SEIU, "Service Employee International UNION", have been twittering today to go to Fox Poll and vote to BAN the Flag and right now it is still working (21%).

It's time to SHOW THEM WHAT TRUE PATRIOTS BELIEVE!!!

    GO HERE NOW:
    http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2010/05/06/american-flag-banned-america/

VOTE.........and then pass it along, on your massage systems (twitter, mailing list, etc.)

Definitely not. It is reasonable to display the national flag in a government building.

Thats what someone will say - the flag represent a Christian nation (esp with "under God" in the pledge) thus it becomes a matter of separation of church and state.:tonofbricks:

I can understand objections to the pledge, but the flag is a purely secular symbol. There is nothing religious about it.

We would do more good if we banned the Mexican flag from our schools. All public schools should be required to fly the United States flag. In fact, the flag should be in all classrooms!

    AMEN...we are in agreement!

I agree totally. I would also like to see my neighbors cease with the flying of the Mexican flag. I live on culdesac, and there are 15 homes on this street, of which seven, fly a Mexico flag every weekend. If you ad the blaring of Mexican music to this, you would think you were not in America any longer.

What has happened to assimilation. I have two neighbors, both are naturalized citizens, and they are against ANY form of amnesty, and think it is disgusting that these other neighbors fly these flags in America.

I know that is freedom of speach, and that is what makes this nation so great. However, we have lost tons of men and women to many wars around the world, and American pride is being rudely ignored.

Of course, I live in southern California, and this is the land of everything and everybody! Enough said . . . maybe we'll go bankrupt (as a state) and all of those entitled individuals will move to a more prosperous state

I think the flag is fine, so long as it doesn't become an idol to Christians. There is no reason not to put it up in the classroom.

But I'm still not going to pledge allegiance to it.

Why can't they fly their flag? It's an important symbol to them. Let them do it along with the Canadians and British and everyone else. It's not rude. It has nothing to do with fallen soldiers, either.

Let's not make an issue where there isn't one.

And, by the way, this country does bad things, too. "American pride" is only wise to a point.

That is what I thought. Which makes me wonder whether this thread would be better suited to the Politics forum.

Think Facetious -- (but I wouldn't put it pass someone to try and use that defense.)

You are not pledging to a piece of cloth you are pledging "and to the Republic for which it stands..."
and I fully agree with you about making the flag an idol

Ok, let them fly the Mexican Flag - but are they also flying the American Flag? If not, then I see it as a problem....

I think that it is fine in public classrooms too. Never heard of a flag being an idol but I guess it could happen somewhere in liberal land.

You are joined by many who do not pledge the flag that represents the country that gives you the right to say what you want. Not pledging allegiance to the flag is a typical Jehovah Witness practice and a practice by those who would like to weaken this country. Not saying your one of them but you are joined by them in that thought and practice.

Whoa...this is not a "liberal" idea, which is good, since I'm no liberal. People can idolize any number of things. In fact, we're each deeply committed to idols, even though most fail to realize it.

I'm not wanting to tear anything down, but my allegiance does not lie with this country. There is nothing eternally special about it. Christians serve a higher throne.

Yes, it is. It's not a Christian idea.

    This is an uninformed statement.

Having no gods before the one true, living God isn't a Christian idea? Serving Christ's Kingdom instead of an earthly one isn't a Christian idea?

And just because something seems liberal to you doesn't make it so. Doesn't make it unchristian, either.

I don't disagree with you, but I would suggest it is both. Think about the extreme level of respect we require for the flag. Seems to border on idolatry to me, but that's just my conviction. It's a piece of cloth and a symbol for an earthly kingdom. It's of no eternal significance.

Again, I just really don't see the problem. They may still feel more a part of Mexico and they may be proud of or miss their homeland. As long as they are law-abiding, legal residents, I am fine with it.
