I grew up in a polka culture. My Germanic ancestors (most 1st generation imagrants to the USA) brought their love of the music to the States with them.

I don't hear it often anymore, unless I attend a family wedding in Wisconsin.

Polka as in "Thunder and Lightning Polka", "Tritch-Tratch Polka" and so on by Strauss? If so, yes I like it, but I haven't voted in case "polka" has a different (or additional) meaning in the USA.

Yes, I like it. My dad loved it and I grew up with it.

Ironically, though, I didn't learn to love it until I moved to Texas. Between the traditional German and Mexican polka music, it's hard to get away from down there.

We live in an area with a very large German and Polish population, so you can find it everywhere here. We haven't been in a while, but there are always dances around that feature polka.

I don't watch the Big Joe Show very often, just because I don't like to be glued to a screen for an hour, but sometimes if it's on, I'll turn the sound up while I'm working.

Same with the Jimmy Sturr Show.

I know next to nothing about Polka Music. I just think of John Candy (& Eugene Levy) from :The Last Polka. Funny stuff. John Candy was really, really funny in all his movies.

I love everything about it. We have a very big Polish & later Ukranian population in my town & so we would go to the lake on Friday night & dance. I guess I love to dance & socialize. Then we had a German Hoff Brau house in the neighboring town & my Dad (in-law) is from Stutgartt in Germany. The owner was operatic & worked part time in NYC & brought in acts & operatic singers. Dad & I loved it & the food was always great! both places are closed now but boy it was a great time.:love2:

Yes, I like polka music, along with homemade pretzels and krout. My dad's grandparents were German immigrants.

There is a great German restaurant in Columbus, Ohio and the owners play polka live while you dine. It's great. We visited there twice while on vacation in the area.
