There is a point trying to be made that Spurgeon liked so called "alter calls". It has been said that Iain Murray and others have mislead.

Is this right? Did Murray tell a big fib? Is there any proof that Spurgeon disliked Alter calls?

I have a few quotes I would like to share later. But what do you guys think?

I know ML-J disliked them & Murry never covered it up. Who was the publisher Murry put thru the Bio of Spurgeon. Could it have been Banners? Then we should talk privately

I remember reading that Spurgeon used inquirers rooms but did not use an altar call such as is prevalent in the modern Baptist church, nor the manipualtive tactics oft associated with the altar call. Lloyd-Jones did not. However, neither went so far as Gill I believe, who allegedly bragged about not doing so. I think that goes too far, much like those who insist upon the practice of altar calls.

Yes, very good point Tom. Private rooms were used by both men and not altar calls. Everyone should be able to agree on this.
