Baptists, are suppose to be “people of the Book”, this is why I am a Baptist.
But over the years, I have been seeing “Baptists”(including the ones on the BB), get farther and farther from “the Book”.
    --------------------------------------------------
Over and over again, I am seeing people’s minds being changed about Bible Doctrine, based upon what someone else says about it.

I can’t count the times, that I have heard someone defending their unBiblical position, by suggesting that I read so-n-so’s new book on the subject.

Don’t they realize, that they shouldn’t be reading so-n-so’s book, if he is straying from the sound Doctrines, that Christianity has always stood upon........
    Colossians 1:23
“If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and [be] not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, [and] which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;”

    --------------------------------------------------
I am not going to give up the name “Baptist”, but simply realize the fact that only a few IFB’s, are still “people of the Book”.

I think many IFB’s are still “people of the Book”.

    You are probably right.
But you know how it goes; sometimes we get discouraged, and forget about what the Lord told Elijah........
    1 Kings 19:18
“Yet I have left [me] seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.”

In other words, as valuable as other books my be, our doctrine should be based on the Bible. Agreed
