Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Before you judge this (post)thread, please read this thoroughly. The reason why I say I have NEVER lost a debate is this. Whenever I am engaged in a topic on here, I like to hear both sides(FW and Cal's), and then I take what I have read and compare it to the Word of God. I had mentioned this in another thread earlier today. This message board has caused me to dig DEEPER than I thought I could!! This is ALWAYS a good thing. This is why I say I have NEVER lost a debate!! I come out of these (heated)debates smarter than when I went in to them.....by God's Grace He bestows me with His knowledge. Without Him I am nothing, yea, less than nothing!! So in essence, I have won every debate I have been engaged in!! I pray that others feel the same way as I do!!

    Any thoughts, ideas, or comments??

    i am I AM's!!

And that is the exact reason why I say no one ever wins or looses a debate. Info is simply presented, and the individual must determine what is fact.....

A lot can be learned from a good debate - if only we would listen.

    Willis,
No one holds a position that they believe to be in error. Nobody.
That being said we should always be improving upon our understanding of revealed truth.

Not every debate has been edifying to me.... or for others. If someone loses their temper and/or says things unbecoming their profession of faith... they lose, imho.

    peace to you:praying:

Brother, where did I EVER even insinuate something in the OP that stated the contrary. I would be very ignorant to hold to something I thought would be in error....I imagine all on here agree with this....and not me being "very ignorant"....LOL

Henceforth, the very reason why I started this thread!! All of these debates(or most of the ones I have read) have caused me to study harder, and ask God to reveal Himself to me through His Word. These debates, regardless how heated they have gotten, they have caused me to study harder, longer, and deeper than I guess I ever have! That is why I stated, "I have NEVER lost a debate!!!" Whenever we come out of something a little smarter than when we went in to it, we have won!! By God revealing to us things in His Word through studying, meditating, and praying, we have all won! That is the point I am trying to make!!

    i am I AM's!!

I find your posts refreshing and sincere. Whenever you have a disagreement with someone, it seems that you always have an open mind to other ideas, and are willing to change if you find it lines up with the Bible. For what it is worth, IMO, your posts are very constructive, and are the type of discussions that can edify everyone.

This is in sharp contrast to several posters on this board. They all have the same tired, old pattern. They start off with a pet peeve issue. It is an issue that makes no difference in anyone's eternal destiny. It usually centers around Calvinism, creation, end times, KJO, or some other minor issue. They start the thread with the exact opposite motivation as you, that is, not to learn or exchange ideas, but to belittle and demean any other point of view. Sometimes the title or opening post of the thread is only indirectly related to their agenda, but they will steer it to that subject until you have a full blown back and forth that does no one any good.

I just responded to such a thread started by someone who has an agenda against Calvinism. If you read through the thread, you will see that the tone of the thread does no good to either side.

Most people think they are right and others are wrong. This is nothing but pride and a mindset that they are too advanced educationally to learn anything new. This was in another thread, but I recently changed my mind about church discipline that was administered in the past. This was in another thread, but basically, decades ago, disfellowshipped members for unBiblical reasons, and compelled a repentant response when none was justified. Before, I found the stories interesting, a sign of the times. Last time someone brought them up, something changed in me, and I have come to the conclusion that the congregation sinned in doing such a thing, and in fact, they had no right to bring the charges. Jesus sets the standard, not us. It is no longer an interesting story. It is something to be ashamed of, and should be buried with the past.

Anyway, stay just like you are, and keep up the good posts. God bless you and your family.

Excellent observation. There is a certain aspect of debate that I need to work on and that is allowing my buttons to be pushed. With me, it makes no difference which side the person is on. Even if they agree with me about this or that, if I detect an insincere or agenda type attitude, my impression of them pretty much turns negative from that point on. It is something the Lord is helping me improve.

First off, thank you ever so much for the kind words!! But most of all, you need to thank Him, because anything I say that lines up with His Word comes from Him, and not me. I am His mouthpiece, or on here, His secretary!!..LOL I am always open to listen to what all my Brothers and Sisters have to say...in these cases, "type"......One can not talk to a closed door, which most are that post on here. They want to "force feed" me their theology, and have nothing to do with mine...and that's sad!! :( Theology(all of them) are flawed to a certain extent, because they come from man. His Word is ALWAYS correct, so I do not buy into all of these different "theologies" that get thrown around in here!! I do my best to understand His Word, and if I do that, I will be A.O.K!!!!

The way I look at this is like this; Calvinism, Arminianism, Pelegianism, Gnosticism, Catholicism, Swinefluism, etc(threw that last one in there for a laugh), never saved ONE SOUL!!! The Blood of the Lamb is what saves sinners!! So I do not buy into any of these theologies. I am sure they each have a certain amount of value, but they still can't save one sinner from eternity in the lake of fire!! BTW, I would never belittle anyone on here! They are my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and I LOVE THEM, whether they be "C's" or "A's"!!

I agree totally with these statements!! Isaiah 1:6 states to come and let us reason together, which is almost a complete impossibility on here. Instead of "Iron sharpeneth iron", one side wants to take their "iron" and grind the other's "iron" off right up to the nub!!

When we go around thinking we are the only ones right, we are in BIG TROUBLE!! I do find myself in opposition to Calvinism, but sometimes I honestly do wonder. I have asked God to show me if I am right or not. When we have the mentality "I am right and your wrong", I believe you have slammed the door in God's place!! God will not show things to a "closed door" !! That is why my "door" is always open! I do not know it all, because if I did, I would have to tell Jesus to "scoot over and let me sit down"......and I am not about to do that!!

Thanks again for the kind words Brother! Please remember my wife!! She is lost and need of a Saviour!! Lift her up in your prayers!!

    i am I AM's!!
