IF you were to die right now & stand before God & IF He were to say, "Why should I let you into My Heaven?" What would you say? Remember, this is just an "IF" thought.

I wouldn't have to speak. Jesus would speak up and intercede on my behalf.

    Lol...no & yes...lol.

I have asked the question to some fellow believers & sometimes the answer was, "Because I placed my faith in Jesus Christ" or "Because I repented of my sins." Though I do not doubt their salvation, I wonder if this is not really a good way to answer the question. Though repentance & faith are a part of the salvation process it is not "I" but Him that is the center of our salvation.

Is that an Evangelism Explosion question? Lol. I enjoyed listening to D. James Kennedy especially his sermons on the founding fathers.

Hubby used this in his message and I just had him e-mail it to me since I think it's a perfect answer:

Author Greg Gilbert puts it this way:

“When we stand before God at the judgment, what do you plan to do or say in order to convince Him to count you righteous and admit you to all the blessings of His kingdom? ... [What could we possibly] hold up before Him and say ‘God, on account of this justify me!’

“ I’ll tell you what every Christian whose faith is in Christ alone will do, by God’s grace. They will simply and quietly point to Jesus... ‘ O God, do not look for any righteousness in my own life, but look at your Son. Do not count me righteous because of anything I’ve done or am. Count me righteous because of Jesus. He lived the life I should have lived. He died the death I deserve. I have renounced all other trusts, my plea is Him alone. Justify me O God because of Jesus.” (adapted from “What is the Gospel” p.83)

you know how a dog just pulls his ears back so his forehead kinda tightens and he lowers his head and doesn't look directly at you and his eyes white up ? I guess that's how I'll look like and I just won't say nothin' because I understand I am entirely at my Master's mercy.

I come on the merits of Jesus.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.

I have no other argument, I have no other plea.
It is enough that Jesus died and that he died for me.

Hmm, that'd make good lyrics for a hymn.

About 15 years ago, I worked with a youth group and the youth minister and I came up with a "life" game, which ended with the kids dying, standing before God and God asking "Why should I let you into heaven." If they couldn't answer correctly, they had to go through the game again.

All the kids began with their professions of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

We had several different "roads" the kids could take. Each kid randomly drew from a bucket a slip of paper which put them on their road. Each "road" had various stations. Each station had a bucket with slips of paper that determined the course of their lives.

They were married (some for life, some divorced, some widowed.. etc), some had kids (some miscarrages, some adoptions, etc.), some of their children died in car accidents...etc. Some went to college, had out of wedlock children, were hurt on the job, some made millions and gave to charity.... or not; some became missionaries that lived for decades in foreign lands with no response to the gospel. Others became famous pastors.. others worked their lives in factories and served their churches by taking out the trash each week.

Not a single kid could answer correctly. They kept going through the game, beginning with the profession of faith and then drawing from the bucket, living their lives.

Finally, one of the kids got it. "It's all about Jesus, right?"

Yeh, it's all about what God did for you, not what you did for God.

    peace to you:praying:

Excellent way to bring application! I may have to try this with our adults! Lol! This was my thought in starting this thread - it's all about Jesus & what He did for us, not what we do or did for Him. Again, excellent post!
