Would you attend this college - or have your kids attend.

    Do you support their policy?

Nope. I think it's a bad idea, especially in a time when we have young girls becoming anorexic before jr. high school. If a person wants to lose weight, they'll go to a weight-loss support group or their doctor.

I think the college would do better to have their students learn a new Bible verse every week and give a testimony of how that verse can be applied to their daily life.

    No, and no.

That goes beyond the scope of what a college is there for, IMHO.

But then again...since Fairhaven apparently sees fit to offer "guidance" on virtually every issue under the sun...well, bless the folks that go there. I guess there needs to be a college for proponents of (and adehrents to) uber-legalism.

Curious as to why you assume it is about weight loss? If I read it correctly it is about weight goals. The instances you describe could very well help the anorexic see that they need to gain weight.

Edited to say that I do agree with you that it's a bad idea. Wouldn't send my kid there.

I have been thinking about this lately.

I understand ABC concern "young girls becoming anorexic " and mentioned that weight control should be monitored by a doctor. Now, I do not disagree as such with ABC, but is it possible that the school has its own doctor?

The same could be said of physical condition as well. Why should the school require Phys Ed courses? If the student need PE, they should go and join a gym.

I read the college catalog and saw no mention of the weight/height requirement. It is possible it is only mentioned in the student handbook.

Therefore, I sent an email to the school requesting clarification of the policy. Will keep you posted

What a dumb policy. Perhaps they should require a MENSA score of 132 on the Stanford-Binet for graduation, or better yet for the administration.

For all that their unaccredited diplomas are worth, there's not much loss there- except three or four years and several thousand dollars.

Maybe the next step is mandating everyone has blond hair (natural or not) and blue eyes (natural or not) and supports the Aryan cause for world domination....cuz that's what I think about these kinds of rules.

Yep, I guess I finally decided to be the first to break Godwin's Rule. :)
