What would be silly is to see the crying fit that Boehner would have if Obama had been the one to block this.

As far as I know, this man was buried with full military honors. I am sure the family member who recieved his folded flag did so with pride.

Stop using this veteran's name to make a cheap, silly political point.

The government did an outstanding job of recognizing the service of this deceased veteran.

Anyone who says otherwise has some other axe to grind and is striving to use this event to do so.

    Shameful.

Boehner made it political once he blocked a bi-partisan request by US Senator (D) and a US Congressperson (R).

As for me, I have worn the uniform, I am a Republican, and I am ashamed of any politician that can not recognize the historic symbolism of the last of a great generation who sacrificed so much passing away. Boehner is like so many politicians...he wants to wrap himself in old glory at election time, then shun them the rest of the time.

I served, as well. I am not the least offended by this.

It is shameful. You are correct.

I disagree with the Speaker on this one. I do think the soldier was honoured, but it would have been a touch of class if it had been permitted. I do not think it is an issue to make a point over.

I do wonder what the response would have been if Speaker Pelossi had done the same though.

That is just an obtuse way to slander people on the opposite side without anything to back it up. I hate it when anybody does that, and would think it has no place in an honest debate.

I agree totally. I thought the same when Pres Obama laid a wreath at the Lincoln Cemetery last Veteran's Day and was slammed for not laying the wreath at Arlington.

I would love to see us all rise above such pettiness and address real issues.

Same here. I am glad that Obama never responded to any of that silliness.

Boehner promised to take on spending. It seems that is what he is doing. Pelosi probably would not have blocked it, because she LOVED spending money on stuff like that.

Thank God she is no longer Speaker and you'll just have to keep wondering.

My thought is that the Capitol Ceremony was not so much for that individual solider, but rather as the last Vet of WWI, he represented all vets of the Great War.

I think the Capitol Ceremony should be allowed.
