My answer, the keys, was just a guess. The fairy penguins and Dame Edna just seemed too silly to be correct, and I imagine that if any country lost a prime minister, it would be headline news. So I am sorry to say, even if my answer is correct, it shows nothing of my "Aussie knowledge". :)

It's refreshing to see some threads which are not American-based.

I know that Australia has one of the four Tamworth's in the world. In Austalia it is the country music capital of Australia. It was founded out of Tamworth, England as was the Tamworth where I live in Canada.

After the WWII, English folk were offered three countries to migrate to: Canada, AUstralia and New Zealand...without passports.

We chose Canada because it was closer to England in case we wanted to return. Because of political changes, we had to take out Canadian citizenship in the 70's if we wanted to vote in federal elections.

That's about all I know about Australia. The above would have been in 1948. Things are different now.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I guess it was to help repopulate those "colonies" after the war, and there wasn't much left for us in England. Opportunity in an English country.

    Cheers,

I am going to post the answer to this one because it is soooooo weird.

Australia DID lose a Prime Minister......

Harold Edward Holt 1908-1967 was the 17th Prime Minister. He went swimming one morning off Cheviot Beach near Portsea in Victoria and was NEVER seen again. I wonder what his minders were doing.

It was certainly big news in OZ, and there were lots of theories. The beach is notorious for having giant seaweed to entangle you up in, other theories included heart attack , defection to Communist China/Russia.

The beach was empty of folk that early morning......aliens may have snatched him as well....
