What would happen if say there were an armed uprising in this country against the government?

Would the United Nations draw up a resolution to enforce a no fly zone over the United States? Would the "international community" then start bombing runs on our cities? Would there be foreign troops occupying ours streets? Would the Geneva convention be honored or would the government practice it's enhanced interrogation techniques and extraordinary renditions on our "rebels' after labeling them "enemy combatants"?

Would there be any nation on this planet that would come to the aid of our "rebels"? Would they provide funding for technologies that our "rebels" could use to serf the web undetected like our State Department has done for "rebels" in other countries? Which nation if any would supply our "rebels" with arms and ammunition in support of "regime change" efforts like our State Department has done in other countries?

I pray this never happens but what if it did?

It is not a reasonable "what if". In the case of Lybia it has been ruled by a dictator who is killing his own people. So to present your "what if" without any real context is shallow.

So you say Libya has been ruled by a dictator who is killing his own people. I say so what?

Our government has been supporting dictators that have been abusing and killing their own people for decades. Our governmnet even supported one dictator who boiled people alive.

We were in love with Saddam when he allegedly gased his own people. So what? He was our guy and it was just Jim Dandy with us at the time. It wasn't until the neocons needed a pretext to go on a huge spending and killing spree in Iraq that the subject ever come up!

So, for you to say I have no real context is well, astonishingly shallow.

The problem is you do not have any of that listed in your what if. It was quite vague. And while it was an obvious comparison to Libya if we, in the US, were in the same boat I would be glad to receive aid to stop a dictator.

No, the problem is that I should have to make a list of things you should already be aware of.

And how about this, we have a president that evidently believes it's within his power to bomb a sovereign nation without even consulting congress.

That sounds like a dictator to me. Just as our last president claimed the authority to hold people indefinately without charge, without access to legal council and without telling anyone where they were being held. This president like our last claims the authority to use "extraordinary rendition" to fly the people he has arrested without charge to other countries for some good old fashion down home "enhanced interrogation" techniques.

Oh so you say he's enforcing a UN resolution? I say who gave the UN the authority to give to Obama to bomb foreign nations without a clear and present danger to the citizens of these United States?

We have a government that told the 911 responders it was safe to breathe the contaminated air around "ground zero" people have died as a result of that false information. So our government caused their deaths. Our government has killed it's own people at places like Waco and Ruby Ridge.

We aren't so much different from those other countries with dictators who kill their own people. We just know how to spin it better here is all.

    What?

That is without a doubt problematic

OK, then I suppose you need to start your revolution.

I actually said none of that.

I know you said none of that but I was fully expecting that excuse to pop up. Maybe from you maybe from someone else. I just wanted to confront that objection right at the get go.

Maybe I should start my own revolution? Right, here in the land of the free where our every move is being watched. If not by the government then by our neighbors who are right now being brainwashed at the local Wal Mart to snitch on their friends and neighbors.

Oh brother this is going to be interesting thread.

Is there anyone out there who has some inkling of what's been happening here for the past few decades that I could maybe have a real discussion with whitout having to go through a two or three hundred year world history and geopolitical lesson with first? Hello? Anybody?

Okay, is there anybody out there who isn't so stuck in the middle of the false left vs right paradigm that they can't see past their own biases and fear that the "other side" is taking over that I could maybe have a real discussion with?

Um, how about this is there anybody out there who is sick and tired of all the lies and deception from both major political parties I could maybe have a real discussion with?

Wow! Your the first one to ever to say that about me.

The fact of the matter is the world is full of conspiracies.

Did the United Nations "conspire" against Libya? Do the republicans "conspire" against the democrats? Do the democrats "conspire" against the repulicans? Have the republicans "conspired" against trade unions? Does one news network "conspire" against another for ratings?

Grow up. Conspiracies happen all day everyday. Don't sit there and try to act as if they don't. That's like just so shallow.

    Anybody at all?

    What, you still here?

Is there anyone else? Is there anyone here who's memory of world events last longer than the last news cycle I could maybe have a real discussion about history and geopolitics with?

MP you out there? LE are you out there somewhere? Pastor Larry? At least you bring up some valid points that aren't the same o lame o scripted talking points gleaned from the mass corporate media and the two headed one party system from time to time. You out there?

C'mon man help a brother out.

32 "hits" and only one taker that had to resort to using the "C" word. What's up with you people? Don't any of you wnat to have a discussion about the real problems we face today? Or would you rather just go on and on and on with the "you conservatves are so stupid, no it's you liberals who are so stupid, no it's you conservatives, no it's you liberals, no it's you conservatives, no it's you liberals. It's you, no it's you, no it's you, well no it ain't neither your the stupid, no your the stupid. Stop calling me stupid stupid!"

I tell ya. I've been hanging around here for years hoping that some of you might break out of that crazy cycle. I've seen a few actually do it too! Very few. The rest of ya? Well I reckon y'all are just to content to keep going around in circles playing the blame game and blaming the opposition party for all our ills.

I mean everyone knows that's it's the liberals fault, no it's conservatives fault, no it's liberals fault stupid, hey don't call me stupid you stupid! Everybody knows it's the conservatives fault no everbody don't cuz it's the liberals fault, no the conservatives, no the liberals, no it's the stupid, where was I oh yeah it's the conservatives fault, no it's the liberals fault, your stupid cuz it's the conservatives fault, no your the stupid stupid stupid!

Hey that's what I read in 98% of these threads. I know. It's crazy ain't it? Or is it, . . . stupid? Think I'll go take my blood pressure and heart rate reducing meds and go to bed. I have to get up early and work for a fist full of of those practically valueless fiat currency thing a ma bobs that a small group of private international bankers pass off on us as money. So, tootaloo y'all.

There Is Talk of Just That . . .

I've heard talk, that exactly what you proposed in your OP is being tossed around at kitchen tables around the country.

This is what scares me most about where this nation is headed. There seem to be more disenchanted Americans than at any other time in my life!

Is it possible, here in the land of apple pie, homemade ice cream, Saturday afternoon baseball, and a fading middle class?

Let's pray it isn't so! :applause:
