With Thursday’s passage of United Natons Security Council resolution 1973, the United States is set to go to war against Libya. Removing Moammar Gadhafi from power would probably advance the cause of freedom, but the United Nations has no legal authority to take a step of this magnitude. By bowing to the will of the U.N. Security Council, President Obama is diluting the sovereign power of the United States.

    It's already a done deal.

I believe Obama has committed an impeachable offense.

There have been dozens of illegal invasions since Korea. Our masters must laugh all the way to the bank thinking about how the patriotic minority keeps themselves occupied complaining about gun restrictions and other constitutional violations. Americans are happiest when complaining about the government.

It's not illegal and it's not impeachable. The President's recent actions are fully Constitutional as they are permissible any number of national security laws and specifically the War Powers Act.

You guys who are looking under every rock and piece of scrap wood for junk against the current President need to also consider the past Presidents (Nixon, Reagan, H.W. Bush, W. Bush) who have all sent troops into armed confrontation without the declaration of war.

Are the liberals of the last 10 years going to come back here with "Obama lied, people died"?

He is in clear violation of the War Powers Act.

    Is that all you have?

Is it possible that someone thinks it is illegal and not have your proposed attitude about the current President?

    I think so....

President Barack Obama should be impeached for approving air strikes against Libya, Rep. Dennis Kucinich said in an interview Monday.

“President Obama moved forward without Congress approving,” the liberal Ohio Democrat told Raw Story. “He didn’t have congressional authorization, he has gone against the Constitution, and that’s got to be said.” Several other members of Congress have also chastised the Obama administration for not doing enough to sell the intervention to Congress, let alone to the American people.

A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.

Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) "all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president's actions" during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.

So, how exactly is this supposed to "advance the cause of freedom"?

Killing people who are trying to kill you is called self defense right?

What is it called when you kill people who are not trying to kill you?

    That's still called murder isn't it? If so then, . . .

How does murder "advance the cause of freedom", exactly?

Or it could simply be defense of others rather than false accusations of murder.

Still illegal. And the missile attacks defended no one.

I agree because of the method.

    Without a doubt incorrect.

Then it shouldn't be any problem to prove it.

Shutting down their ability to attack the rebels from the air is without a doubt helpful and in defense.

Could very well be but not in this case. The "international community" is killing Libyans in defense of the almighty petrodollar. Just as they have been killing Iraqis in it's defense. I know it "feels" good to think of our western world leaders as saviors of the down trodden masses but nothing could be further from the truth.

The dollar is the international reserve currency for global oil transactions.

If an oil producing nation even thinks about moving away from the dollar to another currency (as Saddam did in November of 2000) it is demonized non stop in the western press and all manner of evil is then credited to it and the sob stories of people being tortured and abused at the hands of their leaders begins, the "WMD" stories come out. The United Nations convenes and proposes sanctions that in the case of Iraq killed 500,000 children. Madelaine Albright thought this was a fair trade and well worth the killing of half a million innocent children. So much for your "just cause" theory, eh?

If that doesn't sway the evil foreign leaders then NFZs are proposed and then enforced.

    Bombs away!

Then comes occupation and the privitization of the wayward nations resources, banks and businesses and all is glorious again in the land of the petrodollar. In the meantime we have spiraling debt more authoritarian government and less freedom.

We've seen this too many times now to be fooled again. Well, some of us have. No dear friend, none of this will "advance the cause of freedom" but it will keep the bankers and corporations in the fiat money laundering business for a bit longer.

Until that is all the oil producing nations get tired of their people being killed and their lands destroyed and switch enmass to the euro or some other currency at which point the game is up.

I like they way you take the "rebel's" side in all this by the way. Did you know these rebel forces include members of Al Qaeda? How do "feel" about defending them?

We should have our heads examined. I agreed with Hillary Clinton in another thread (al jezeera news) and you agreed with Dennis Kuchinich in this thread.

That's not what the missiles did. They were an attempt to destroy the ability of the Ghadafi forces to defend themselves from an air attack. the rebels have no planes.

So how did that save the lives of any Libyans?

The answer is that it didn't.
