Wild Goose Worship Group

    I was working on the library database and ran across a series that drew my interest because of the name, Wild Goose Worship Group. So I looked them up on the Internet and found it is part of the Iona Community. Their disciplines are, IMHO, very good and I like their emphasis.

    Careful, though, CTB! There is a very important difference between what is actually on their website, and what you quoted.

    Your quote included: "Members share a common Rule which includes......"

    Their site has: "Members share a common Rule which includes......"

    In other words, they have the word "Rule" as a link. If you follow that link, it takes you to a fuller statement of the rules by which they live. Those rules include:
    As Members and Family Groups we will:
    8. engage in forms of political witness and action, prayerfully and thoughtfully, to promote just and peaceful social, political and economic structures; [snip]
    10. celebrate human diversity and actively work to combat discrimination on grounds of age, colour, disability, mental wellbeing, differing ability, gender, colour, race, ethnic and cultural background, sexual orientation or religion;
    ​
    Their idea of peace seems to emphasise earthly peacy, absence of war. I didn't see anyhing about the far more vital matter of peace with God.

    Their bookshop includes such titles as: "God and Her Girls".

    The community is unashamedly ecumenical.

    I agree that the summary of their disciplines looks good, but perhaps we need to look at the organization in more detail before giving it the "thumbs up".

    Although I find Crabby's embracing of such a group a bit disturbing...

    What I liked was:

    * Justice, peace and the integrity of creation (opposing nuclear weapons, campaigning against the arms trade and for ecological justice)
    * Political and cultural action to combat racism
    * Action on local and global poverty and justice
    * Issues in human sexuality
    * The deepening of ecumenical dialogue and communion
